Looks like a viable project. Some assembly definitely required.

Steve: No worries on the gauge. Just letting you know if you go that way.
I re-did mine a few years ago trying for the “authentic” look. Noticed that the stock ’72 Bug Speedo reads to the correct 100 mph, includes a totally usable fuel gauge (mine was dodgy), is close to the TD-correct 5 inches in diameter and could be retro-fitted with a white… -

Dick,Sure looks like a VW frame. The tunnel seems unmistakeable. I had some brochures that showed the custom frame and always wondered if that was pure marketing fiction. which reminds me to go through all the old paperwork. As my mother was the original owner there might be something in there to add to the London Roadster research thread….I…[Read more]

This is the result of overheating a coil…owner left the key in the on position overnight.

Stephen
Great to read about the progress. I’m currently in the middle of rewireing Eliza Jane and I had a blast this Saturday working bumper to bumper on her. I too am looking at new guages and will replace the old wooden dashboard, guages, and steering wheel. It’s funny how when you start on one project other items will jump up and say “ME… -

Derek,
Chrome bits are easily found from the MG supply places and most likely will be much cheaper than re-chroming. The head lights can be found in many places like JC Witney and the like.I have a fiberglass dash left over if you need etc.It might be best to just post your needs here and see if anyone has left overs you can get good prices on -… -

I also contacted the seller requesting only partial order. Possibly if several ask he may be more willing, as I doubt anyone of us will use all of those parts. Hoping for the best as I’m in need of some new chrome and interior pieces.

New problem. Po bent the shift tube end out of round and it will not push thru the bushing in the hanger. Is there a way to remove the shift rod? I could ring his neck! There wasn’t even a bushing in place. I guess I now know why!

It seems like the prevailing suggestion is to get the engine in and get her on the road. Yes, Maine summers are short, but with an un-heated garage summer is when I can work out there without freezing! Regardless, to that end I think I’ll keep the immediate project list short and to the point, body on. Breaking it down into short, mid, and…[Read more]

If the coil is that hot you may need a resistor check with Bubba at this link.http://www.lindertech.com/bhrs/

Check the rubber plugs on the carb for cracks. My car acted up a couple times and that solved it. Also there is a disk about the size of a dime on the front of the carb I had mine come loose and the car wouldnt run until I fixed it. Check the jet for a blockage sometimes small rubber particles come off the supply hose after the filter and block…[Read more]

Make sure the coil has the BLACK wire on the coil No. 15 (+) terminal and the green wire to the condenser on the coil terminal No 1 (-). That may be causing the coil to run hot.

I’ve bought ball joint boots from cip1 They also have tie rod end boots for $15-$20.
Ironically, the same price as the full tie rod ends.If you’re cheap you could always just use a bit of heater hose though. Like this.edsnova2014-06-08 09:52:08
