great ideas guys. If i did cut the carpet myself. how do i bind the edges? Im sure i could figure out how to cut it to the right fit but dont want the ragged edges that i assume will evenutually fray. Any suugestions? Good idea ednova. I would rather farm out the door panels.

Mike: the answer is NO. Real TD interior stuff will not work in a replica. The floors are very different. The doors are slightly different sizes. The other interior panels are not very close. I know this because I had a Moss kit briefly and made some test fits. Ended up doing everything panel-by panel with marine vinyl and some time and…[Read more]

Link fixed. Thanks for the head-up, Roy.
And no. No shifting. Probably over-revved though. Even 5k on that engine is overdoing it. That’d be about 45 mph in Bridget. -

If you have someone to help balance it (or you’re very careful) you can remove one with a regular floor jack and no additional pads or platforms as Roy describes. Put the round center pad of the jack on the oil drain plate and the edges of the drain plate will keep it the engine from sliding around on the jack…

There was a red, running Ford-based TDr just outside Knoxville TN for sale for $4500 a couple weeks ago. I haven’t been back through there so I’m not sure if it is still available or not. It’s been on a used car lot all summer…
PM me if interested, and I can check to see… -

I agree.
However, lacking a motorcycle jack, I use a 2’x2′ piece of 3/4″ plywood balanced on top of a floor jack. A second person, to balance, is a big plus. -

Ed, I had some company today and decided to show them just how great you were in the Autocross. I couldn’t get your link to load. ???
Also, Ed, I know that my car is faster than your’s (I think). And, I refuse to believe that you are a better driver than I am (though it is remotely possible). The only thing that I can figure out is the sun bei… -

What I did was remove the old ,went to home depot. bought a remnant 30 dollars , traced it with old and installed with screws and carpet tape. Some may remember I put hole in gas tank so buy short screws.

Guy in my work neighborhood did a small pickup truck that way. Very cool look. Probably not a good look for the TD imho but a ’60s barge (Lincoln Conti, say, or ’72 Eldorado or an Impala station wagon) would look ballsy that way. It’d maybe paint a shark mouth on the fender too.
