It’s already higher than what I bought my unstarted kit for. Maybe I was lucky.

The short was between the D+ wire and the F wire at the generator. ( I had the wires off to install a new style oil cooler and they got shorted together, Now my signal lights do some strange things!!

And that’s the color I wanted too, but I settled for a black one! I like that wiring harness too, mine is all done in black and white with labels! a real bear to trace and repair! I had a short somewhere yesterday and fried the ground wire in the main harness.

maybe…
Not sure though. My car seems to have developed a bit of a knock. If she don’t blow up during or after Speedster Palooza I might flat tow her down. Then again might just get to work on the engine swap. It does seem to be about time. -

Registration has begun. Apparently I am the first of our group to sign up. I picked the “Rock Star” parking as we had done last year. Roy, have you been in contact with the Oceanfront? Gotta make reservations there, too, but I’ll wait to hear how you make out. Paul, are you going to make the trip? If you run down 222 we can hook up outside Reading,…[Read more]

Which Fiberfab? Ford, Chevy or VW? Most wheels have much different offset now than were used back in the 70’s when these cars were designed.

Just heard from Brad @ MG MAGIC — no top for my BCW — his will not fit fit the BCW TDr…and he knows of no source for the tops for that car.
…so tomorrow I’ll try the local boat upholstery shop and see what they say. -

My first replacement top was made at a local upholstery shop using the original as a template. It was a nice job.

Thanks all — lots of good ideas. Greg, I like the Amish angle — although there is no Amish community near me in Coastal NC, I have a friend who lives in KY in the middle of an Amish area — will have to ask about Tarp shops. Good idea on contacting MG Magic — thanks Kent And I have used a local Yacht Canvas shop in the past to modify my ton…[Read more]

Do you have amish in your area. I live in a area that has lots of amish and have talked to a couple of them who own tarp shops. One of them said he could do a new interior with top and boot for 500 dollars. The other said he could do a convertible top and boot for 200 dollars I asked him if I could bring it there this winter and he said storage…[Read more]

Ditto that. Go to a place that installs ‘vert tops and show them what you have, see if there is any interest. Assuming everything you have fits well it should be an easy replacement for a few hunnert.
Boat upholstery place will almost certainly want the job and will probably bid it lower. They do this kind of thing all day in those places. If y… -

It was my experience that ’70s and ’80s-era emissions equipment was mostly counterproductive. Catalytic converters turned out to work.
A.I.R. pumps, EGR valves and the myriad other Rube Goldbergian, vacuum-accentuated contraptions that strangled engine bays like Kudzu–not so much. -

It is good to have her interested in all things mechanical. I finished gutting the emission control vaccum lines today. What a nightmare! The engine is 100% better. No hesitation at start up and shooth through the shifting. This is really a fun car to driveJames
