I wish I had seen this post when I was modifying my VW (69 VW bug, Daytona Migi TD replica), except that it was about 33 years ago. The lowering instruction were so that it “looked” right, with apparently no consideration for the ride. I added some concrete in the front for weight, and cut and rotated both tubes, rather than just one.I don’t r…[Read more]

Silver looks good, with rings or not. The original MG color was more gray than silver–if anyone cares.
I went from silver to black & like the look. Took the trim rings off after Carlisle and like it even better that way. To each his own. -

I think I will repaint silver and get the half moon’s from MG Magic to start. I think that with the chrome beauty rings it may be too much shine to draw your attention away form the chrome on the car body its self.

I never taught either of my girls how to drive a stick shift, James, so I don’t have that particular problem. 😉

Of course you are correct. I forgot that some of the kits used pedal extenders.

Good deal. That’s the way all of our (VW) clutch cables are rigged.

Thanks guys. I had been telling them that the frame had not been shorterned. Didn’t even think about the pedals being moved
I called and they had just worked it out themselves by looking at the snapped version which was looped and clamped (Duh). -
Richard Shear replied to the topic Clutch cable issue in the forum VW Based Kits 12 years ago
You can loop the cable and double clamp it to make it the correct length or cut it and double clamp it to splice it back together. Small U Clamp’s. Allow for some adjustment at the clutch arm. The clamps should be between the cable tube and the clutch arm.gbidick2013-08-29 08:16:15

They have the correct cable – which will be too long. Your TDr front seat is not in the same location as on a “bug”. It and the controls were moved back about a foot therefore the cable is a foot too long. They can easily take up the slack at the clutch arm on the side of the transaxle.
If they could not figure out how to do this, you m… - Load More
