"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 12, 2015 at 7:27 pm #261912Roy – How did you get 5 gauges in a 3 gauge cluster? With the switches there and indicator lights I wouldn’t have thought there would be room.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 13, 2015 at 10:24 am #261914Could someone trace the outside lines of the original center gauge panel for me? Not concerned about gauge or switch placement, only the curves and corners of the center panel itself. Thanks!
Trying to find your pic, Allen. Any idea of which show folder to look in? You’ve got a lot of pics! 😉 KentT2015-02-13 10:26:34

Slowly coming back from the ashes...February 13, 2015 at 10:44 am #261915The picture was from the FL Bug Jam back in 2010. My album was reaching its full capacity by then so I deleted the photos from 2000 to 2010. Sorry about that. I’ll check my thumb drives at home and see if I still have the photo.

February 13, 2015 at 11:30 am #261917I bought this off ebayFebruary 13, 2015 at 11:44 am #261918John, if Allen doesn’t want that panel, I’ll certainly take it! Some real potential there – worst case would be to use as a template!

Slowly coming back from the ashes...February 13, 2015 at 11:57 am #261919So John…you were the one who beat me on that bid you craft devil.
I’m not really sure what I can do with all the holes for the switches and warning lights. Kent – go for it.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 13, 2015 at 12:01 pm #261920Kent – here’s a link to the horn button clocks on eBay. The one I had a picture of was the second one from the top.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackFebruary 13, 2015 at 12:18 pm #261921Thanks, Allen, on both counts! Since I’m using an aftermarket steeing wheel, I don’t think that clock would work for me!
John, I’ll send you a PM.

They seem to have a lot of old dashs, metal and wood.BillBad Bill
February 14, 2015 at 8:46 pm #261926Any idea what he’s charging? My guess is about $850.
February 14, 2015 at 8:52 pm #261927Ed,
They didn’t post any prices, probably have to contact them at the address I put with the picture.BillBad Bill
February 14, 2015 at 9:55 pm #261928I just looked at that site, and I think it primarily sells vintage British car decals and illustrations, with a sideline blog about the owner’s past cars and restorations. This is a dash he apparently worked on for a friend with an MG-TF:
I’d love to redo my Lafer’s dash along those lines, but don’t have the money to have it done or the expertise to do it myself. [Sigh]

1600 cc Type 1 engineFebruary 14, 2015 at 9:58 pm #261929You can buy “engine-turned” decals off eBay very reasonably. I have some of it here at home, although mine is just for the central instrument panel. I’ll bet that is how that dash was done.
February 14, 2015 at 9:59 pm #261930I love the “turned” dash, but that’s not a TF layout. I think it’s a TD.
February 14, 2015 at 10:04 pm #261931Yup. Definitely a TD
February 14, 2015 at 10:59 pm #261932Roy and Ed are correct, of course. I was looking at one of the guy’s projects, reading about another one, and got the two mixed up. Here’s the TF he was working on (using parts from Moss Motors, if I read it right):
