Ah, what can one do while waiting for the tow truck
to arrive? The lower shock bracket on the left
rear snapped on the way home from work. Here I
sit in one of the most dangerous intersections
here in Reading. If anyone is familiar with the area,
I’m sitting on the Eastbound West Shore Bypass where
the Lancaster Ave. exit takes off to the left.
I’m sitting in the little wedge between the passing lane
of the bypass and the ramp amongst all the debris
from previous accidents here. I hope I make it out

Broken shock mount caused fender to fall onto tire.
Lots of smoke.…
Tow Truck arrived within an hour.…
Now it’s home and I have some welding to do.This was not the way to spend the afternoon you leave work early for.

August 10, 2012 at 8:36 am #251336Picked up some steel yesterday and will be fabricating a new
mounting bracket this evening. Will upgrade the design so theweld will be backed up with a bolt. If the weld ever fails againit may flex, but it wont drop.Bill Ascheman
