Today i picked up my car from my local mechanic .He did alot of things to insure a trouble free summer of fun.Well on the way home it stopped running .The gas filter slowley fills up you try to start it,the gas filter emties quickley it does not start then you start the process starts over
.What do you people think?March 20, 2012 at 5:47 pm #249823Well Greg I have not a clue but because I am new at this, if you just got it back from the shop I’d make sure they fixed the problem and let you know what the problem was. Possible they caused the problem when they serviced it etc. They should make it right I’d think.
March 20, 2012 at 5:54 pm #249824they did nothing fuel related . This is the second time same thing .I thought i had it fixed with a new filter because it ran good afterward.
March 20, 2012 at 6:20 pm #249825Possible stuck carb float needle valve or by any chance did you change the fuel pump? Disconnect the coil and the fuel lie at the carb. Have an assistant crank the engine while you catch the fuel coming out of the pump in a catch can. At 3 1/2 to 5 psi the fuel should flow out of the pump rather than a trickle. If it trickles out then I’d replace the pump. If it flows out well, then theck the float needle valve. My 02 cents worth.

ended up replacing the carb float and all was well.
March 20, 2012 at 8:31 pm #249827Tomorrow when i check up on it i plan on printing all of this and taking all of your posts to my mechanic so keep it coming. thanks alot I want my car back
March 21, 2012 at 6:09 pm #249828Greg ,,if your car is/ was like mine do the filters again also the one in the carb. if crud passes through the filter and gets in the carb. it can do just what you describe . Dan
March 24, 2012 at 9:10 am #249829Had this same problem. Gas line was full of crappie before you play with floats or cards disconnect line on front side of filter and see if gas runs there’s a couple fixes for this.
