January 1, 2013 at 7:26 pm #252485Was it for Mad Magizine? 😆

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackJanuary 1, 2013 at 11:02 pm #252486No, but I have been told I bear an uncanny resemblance to Alfred E.
Somewhere there is a picture of me in tails (no less) dancing with a nice blonde girl whose normal job was doing TV commercials. This thing happened at the Waldorf Astoria, as I recall, circa 1991. I do remember Gersh Kuntsman of the NY Post referred to me as “pudgy” in his report which, while probably fair in context of the other contestants (male models, body builders, mostly–but also the guy who came to fix the organizer’s copy machine and got roped-in at the last minute), was wholly unfair in the context of Kuntzman’s own physique. I also remember signing autographs for a couple housewives afterward.
January 2, 2013 at 7:46 am #252487So back to the original thread. We appear to have close to a dozen slated to be at Carlisle. Are we getting near the record?

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackJanuary 2, 2013 at 9:27 am #252488It is looking good. We only count at the show though.
January 2, 2013 at 9:28 am #252489While I like your math, we are nowhere near a dozen confirmed attendees.
Here’s what is confirmed:PaulBill & PattiEd & KarenRoy & JulieAllen & LindaSchuDonna requested hotel info. But has not confirmed attendance yet.Paul Mossberg

But has not confirmed attendance yet.Anyone else planning on coming?Special note for long distance travelers…the Speedster Owners Group coordinates a number of caravans. So far there are at least two, one starting in Massachusetts, the other coming up from the Carolinas and MAYBE from Florida. The caravan thread is here:These are all good guys and gals. I’m sure they’d be glad to have a TD or two along for the ride.PMOSSBERG2013-01-22 09:46:30

January 27, 2013 at 7:31 pm #252493Bill, serious question here. Do they have air (as in for adjusting tire pressures) at the Carlisle track? The last time I ran an autocross was 1968 in my Austin Healey Bugeye Sprite. (all 948cc’s worth) I’m gonna need cheerleaders to get up enough courage to try with my new wire wheels…..yeah yeah yeah I know – it won’t help.
January 27, 2013 at 8:04 pm #252494Yes, they had an air compressor just past the registration tent.

Carlisle dreamers: it’s time to commit. Your ticket is cheap and a hotel reservation can be cancelled pretty close to the event, if need be. It’ll be much harder if you wait ’till you’re sure and try to book late.

February 14, 2013 at 8:47 pm #252496I finally took Ed’s advice and made reservations to attend Carlisle in May. All the chatter here on the forum makes it sound well worth the 500 mile trip. I plan to arrive Thursday afternoon and head for home on Sunday.
I’m looking forward to meeting and getting to know those that will also be there. Can’t wait until May! 🙂Don Loveless

Rochester, MIFebruary 14, 2013 at 8:51 pm #252497Don, that’s great. We have a good time. See you there. I hope that you are in the same hotel as the Speedster group and the TD gang .

Rochester, MIFebruary 14, 2013 at 9:23 pm #252499That’s awesome! Michigan is a nice far ride. Very impressive.
February 14, 2013 at 9:43 pm #252500I’ve been shopping for a cargo trailer to make the trip a little easier on me and the TD. If I do trailer to Carlisle, is it better to park it at the show grounds or at the hotel?

Rochester, MIFebruary 14, 2013 at 9:49 pm #252501Hotel, I would think. But no experience with it.
February 14, 2013 at 10:08 pm #252502Don, there were quite a few trailers in the Hotel parking lot last year. You won’t be the only one towing. There seemed to be plenty of room to park and turn around. I bought a tow bar and flat towed my MiGi 450miles last year and will be doing the same again in May. Enjoy it while you can.
February 14, 2013 at 10:44 pm #252503Don, it’s better to leave the trailer at the hotel. I’ll be arriving some time Thursday evening. Not sure of the time. Please make sure you rsvp to Bruce with your plans for the various cruises and meals.
That’s seven confirmed TDs!!!
Still trying to track Wobby down. Exchanged a couple texts last week, but have not had a chance to talk

February 15, 2013 at 4:51 pm #252504I already reserved a 10 x 40 parking spot for a trailer on the show grounds but based on the comments above I will plan to park at the Hotel. That location is certainly much better from a convenience point of view.
Bruce has my RSVP form. I have signed up for all the cruises and meals. Sounds like a lot of fun.:D
