Wobby,
Good to hear from you – looking forward to visiting and hitting the road together.
Friday night dinner and then a run to the downtown party sounds like fun – only thing – just wanted to make sure we don’t mess up Bruce’s plans – I guess as long as everyone agrees and we give him advance notice we should be good. What does everyone think?
Richard – make sure you read the Autocross thread – want to make sure you get included – Roy already says the Podium is his – we shall see.
SchuApril 15, 2013 at 7:22 pm #252582Welcome back Wobby!
Was good to talk with you this afternoon! As far as Friday night goes, I don’t think you’ll cause any problems for Bruce if you do not cruise with the SOG to their dinner. I don’t think they have a finalized a place yet. But attendees do not have to pre-pay. Bruce is keeping a headcount. So if you previously let him know you were going with the SOG on Friday and you change your mind, please let him know.

April 15, 2013 at 7:38 pm #252583Friday dinner–cookout!–sounds awesome. The SOC Friday meal has often been troubled, in my experience. I’m up for whatever you guys want to plan.
April 15, 2013 at 8:17 pm #252584Sounds like fun. Count me in for whatever you guys decide to do.

Re Friday’s schedule, I’ll try to keep up, but if I peter out, well – be kind to your elders.(I may have to skip the autocross to conserve energy.)Wobby, great to hear from you again. Enjoyed verbal jousting last year. Thanks for bringing the canopy, it will help – while I am, and always have been, solar powered (if there’s no sun, I’m not sunny either) too much vitamin D saps my strength.April 16, 2013 at 9:36 am #252587Roy,
Autocross is first thing Friday morning – you should be fresh – that being said you looking for a way out after all that smack talk?April 16, 2013 at 9:40 am #252588😀
April 16, 2013 at 9:45 am #252589Hope someone takes videos of the Autocross and posts a link so we can see Roy boy’s victorious run!!! Sure wish I could be there.

April 16, 2013 at 11:17 am #252591Ok so I found it, I’m up for Grilling if that’s the choice, Mess of appetizers if that’s it, Last year we cruised down to a little place and had Ice Cream, (not the farm) and there were a few restaurants on that road, Whatever makes you all happy. I would like to head downtown as well and plan on taking in the speedster dinner on Saturday. So I’ll stay in touch.
If anyone wants to email me thundertruck@philscott.org
cell 802-793-5659
I’ll try to stay more connected.
As always keep the greasy side down
April 16, 2013 at 7:16 pm #252592I will not be arriving until late morning on Friday. Roy and I had planned on rolling together. If you run first thing Friday I’ll have to settle on watching you guys on film. When you get there, see if you can commandeer a run group for early afternoon and we can all run together. The Carlisle Event staff might get a kick out of an entire group of MG’s running at once.

"Drive Happy"April 16, 2013 at 7:57 pm #252593I agree with Bill, if possible, it would be most fun if we could keep all the heckles, jeers and cheers in one block of time.
Bill, as I understand it, each car is allowed 3 laps. Are these one right after another or do other cars get into the mix before you run your final lap?April 16, 2013 at 8:44 pm #252594I think there is a covered bridge tour at some point–maybe Friday a.m. I’m going on that.
AutoX afternoon.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackApril 16, 2013 at 9:58 pm #252596Bruce Stumpp posted his “high-lights” of the Speedster weekend:
Highlights of the weekend? It’s hard to pick them but here are a few:
Thursday evening cruise to dinner at the Caddyshack. This annual country-side drive to good food is annual favorite.
Friday morning cruise to the Carlisle fairgrounds for ???egg sammiches???, late registration, setting up the tent and an early walk-through of the swap meet.
Friday post-lunch cruise: ice cream, go-karts or back to the hotel. Grab
lunch at the fairgrounds and then take one of three routes back to the
hotel with time to prepare for the evening’s activities.Friday evening cruise of the ???Gold Mine Run??? to the Bruce Larson museum. This
cruise is extremely scenic, and culminates in a descent down “Gold Mine
Run” which used to be included on the Pennsylvania Hill Climb calendar
(albeit the other direction). It’s a great run!The
tour is still a work-in-progress pending a decision on Bruce’s summer
vintage racing schedule, we should know soon. If we can’t make it happen
we’ll just cruise right to dinner. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bruce_LarsonCruise from Larson’s museum to the scenic Stoney Creek Inn for dinner. Plans are still coming together for dinner. We’ll be ordering from the menus with separate checks. Maybe free hors d’ oeuvres?
Saturday at the Carlisle fairgrounds Shine
’em up, spend all day. Walk the showfield, see the imports, see what’s
new in replicas, socialize under the club tent, free seminars, ride the
tram, listen to live music, tour the invitational display, watch the
autocross, drive the autocross, be in the group photo, and much more.Pool party Relax and cool off at the hotel pool after a hot day at the fairgrounds and before getting ready for the evening’s activities.
Saturday Evening Gala Awards Dinner New
venue this year with plenty of great food, free hors d’ oeuvres,
distance awards presentations, 10-year celebration, door prizes and
giveaways. Don’t forget your Hawaiian shirt!Annual raffle A
new schedule this year, we’re holding the raffle in the hotel
hospitality suite when we return from dinner. It’s our one fund raiser
to cover weekend expenses. Everyone brings a contribution for the raffle
??? new parts, products, goodies, memorabilia, etc. Fun and always great
things to win.More? Of
course then there are the 10-year freebies, evening gatherings in the
hospitality suite and on the patio, photo sessions in the parking lot,
making new friends, seeing old friends, checking out everyone’s
modifications and new rides,…Paul Mossberg

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackApril 17, 2013 at 3:28 am #252598Apparently nothing is on the schedule for Saturday. Would putting the autocross off until Saturday morning be out of the question? This would free up Friday for the various cruises. I’m easy.

"Drive Happy"April 17, 2013 at 3:35 am #252599Sat works for me. Either Fri or Sat.
April 17, 2013 at 8:56 am #252600Bill,
Sounds like Saturday morning would let everyone be included at the same time for the Autocross. Good for me. We could still do the Friday night speedster dinner and then downtown if not to late or do the Friday cruise and our own dinner and then downtown. Like Bill – I am easy – I will go w/ the crowd.April 17, 2013 at 10:16 am #252601The comments from Bruce Stumpp mention live music. Carlisle Production starrted this last year or the year before and have expanded it for 2013. The line-up is below. The only porformer I know anything about is Payton Taylor. Met her last year. Payton isonyl 16 and is billed as “country.” But she has a kick-ass bluesy tone. I’m hoping she hits the big-time some day, and I can say “I saw her back when….”
Enjoy a Variety of Live Music – Multiple Bands at Multiple Locations to Entertain Patrons
Music always adds to an event. At the Import & Kit Nationals it creates an ambiance that just seems to bring all of the great cars and motorcycles to life. A variety of bands will play the River 97.3 main stage this year, plus there will be a traveling band playing on the tram that tours the ground. New for 2013, two additional locations will be set up within the showfield where yet more music will be played. All of this will help further the great festival atmosphere.
The weekend lineup includes:
Friday
12 p.m. to 2 p.m. – Across the Pond (Gate 3 Stage)
12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. – Jazz Me Rhythm & Blues Band (River 97.3 Main Stage)
2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. – Close to Consideration Band (River 97.3 Main Stage)Saturday
9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. ??? Soul House (River 97.3 Main Stage)
11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ??? Payton Taylor Band (River 97.3 Main Stage)
1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. – Soul House (River 97.3 Main Stage)

April 17, 2013 at 11:06 am #252603Thanks, Paul. Hmmm… no covered bridge tour. Weird.
I’ll race when y’all wanna. Friday or Saturday, either-or. I do think we should all go in one group because it will be more hilarious.
April 17, 2013 at 11:38 am #252604Autocross? Who said Autocross? Hmmm, I think I’ll go with the red ones.
April 17, 2013 at 2:16 pm #252605Tighten up the front bar and now you have to worry about the pretty front wire wheels – As Rosanna Danna Danna used to say ” it’s always something “.
