Crankshaft pulley removal

I purchased an aluminum crankshaft pulley with the degrees stamped into it. I can’t find a puller to remove the old one. I don’t want to do any damage to the engine, so can someone share their secret with me? The Haynes manual doesn’t even address the removal of the crank pulley.

It should “wiggle” right off. The crank is keyed, but not tapered. Tap not pound) on the pulley OD with a rubber hammer and it should come right off…that is as long as the nut is removed!

I haven’t tried anything yet for fear of doing damage. I saw the two sloted holes in it but my 2 jaw puller won’t fit, so i thought I needed something special (i.e. the oil pump puller)

Thanks for the help. I went back through the past posts but didn’t find anything. I guess it so simple, I’m the only one that tried to make it difficult.

Is there a secret to installing gas rams to hold up the engine cover? The piano lid brackets are sooooo ugly.

I was so tired of getting hit in the head with my VW based TD’s engine cover that I removed the hinge and installed hatch cover latches from the marine suppy.  I think you can see them in my gallery.

 

Even if you install the gas struts, the hinge needs to stay. They only assist in the lift and hold the hood open.

I installed a lift arm that lays along the bumper and is out of sight
until in use, very easy fix,I will post it tomorrow with the hood latch.
