    I got tired of propping my cover, too! I had 2 gas springs from my Jaguar hood that still had 20 pounds of lift so I put them on my cover and they work really nice! I had to mount them right next to the carbs on one end and in the far lower/back corner of the cover to get everything right. i had to cut a little notch in the cover to clear the mounting ball. These gas springs are 26 inches extended and have 11 inches of travel. Thev are for the hood on an XK8, 1997, but can also be bought from McMaster-Carr for around $20. I took a picture but don’t know how to attch it here.
