Anybody ever seen one of these? I’ve never heard of them. I’m considering this one. Looks pretty nice. I’m asking if the fit and finish is up to par?
November 2, 2013 at 8:32 pm #258651Looks nice. Appears to be a Grant style mount. Did not see what the dish is on it.
November 3, 2013 at 7:32 am #258652Roy it looks similar to the steering wheel I got from MG Magic. I’ll have to look at it and see if the mfg is somewhere on the wheel.

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackNovember 3, 2013 at 11:23 am #258654Tks Allen. I wrote to manufacturer and asked about the dish. I want flat or almost flat.
November 3, 2013 at 12:14 pm #258655No problem Roy. Mine is slightly dished. The height of the box the wheel is in is 1-3/4 inch so the wheel must be close to that to fit into the box.

November 6, 2013 at 6:04 pm #258657Hey Guys, For the forever sharp steering wheels, go to: http://www.fssteeringwheels.com and you’ll find this steering wheel in 14″ and 15″ size, (also available without rivets if one prefers…) SKU for 14″ with rivets is 2001. Interesting part is the list price there is $79.95. The dish is listed as approximately 2″. Good Luck. Neil

November 7, 2013 at 7:51 pm #258659Update: I have held a Forever Sharp wheel in my hand and mounted it on my car. In my humble opinion it is nicer than the flat Grant wheel that came standard equipment on many/most of our cars. The Grant wheel had an inferior chrome job on the “spokes” and after a few years could not be made to look good. The Forever Sharp is a nice replacement.
November 7, 2013 at 7:58 pm #258660Roy, do you have a pic of the new wheel? Also, did you have to use an adaptor and what is the bolt pattern/ dimension?

November 7, 2013 at 9:32 pm #258661What do you guys think of this one from Forever Sharp? It has a bit of the old-school banjo look…

Slowly coming back from the ashes...November 7, 2013 at 9:57 pm #258662Actually the Forever Sharp wheel that I mounted belongs to Happy Jack. (One of the advantages of having another club member 5 miles away.) I like it and will probably buy one. It is a 5 hole wheel so you would need a 3 hole Grant hub to a 5 wheel FS/Grant adapter to mount it (unless you have a 5 hole hub).
Kent, since you asked for opinions, here’s mine: I don’t like it. And I love banjo wheels. This wheel is a bit too bulky looking to suit me and satisfy my banjo craving and looks best on an old hot rod.November 7, 2013 at 10:07 pm #258663Royal wrote:Actually the Forever Sharp wheel that I mounted belongs to Happy Jack. I’m not a huge fan, but the FS banjo wheel is all-metal, which doesn’t interest me at all. My TDr has an old Grant Challenger-type wheel which is really showing its age, in addition to looking totally out of place.Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan

Period correct; bolts direct to your Grant 3-hole adapter.
November 8, 2013 at 2:59 pm #258665Yes you do Ed.
But…it’s a diameter issue.That wheel won’t work for many of us.Paul Mossberg

November 8, 2013 at 4:17 pm #258666Paul’s right again! We keep tellin’ you Ed – You have a beautiful wheel that’s too darn big for some of us.
November 9, 2013 at 12:04 pm #258667Is it a wheel diameter problem or a driver diameter problem that you are referring to?
November 9, 2013 at 12:37 pm #258668Yes.
November 9, 2013 at 12:38 pm #258669Oh, that’s cruel.

November 9, 2013 at 5:28 pm #258671Sam, I like the 14″ Forever Sharp wheel which is really 14-1/2″ outer diam.
It seems that there is more interest in these wheels than I guessed. So, next week, I will put together a comparison of the Flat 4 Banjo, the TDr standard stock 13.5″ wheel, a Forever Sharp 14″, and a 14″ Grant Signature series. I will post some pictures of them mounted and it may help you make up your mind. All of these wheels are mounted on my VW based MiGi and are almost flat (with no dish). I will use a standard 3 hole Grant/VW hub with a Forever Sharp 3 to 5or6 hole 1″ spacer/adapter on all except the stock wheel which requires no adapter.Stay tuned.November 9, 2013 at 7:46 pm #258672That is very cool of you, Roy. Wish you could try my wheel as well. You might be surprised by the fit.
November 10, 2013 at 8:27 am #258673Ditto!
Great experiment Roy! Thanks!

November 10, 2013 at 8:59 pm #258674Ran across this pic of Forever Sharp wheels on VW adapters on eBay. It seems to really space the steering wheel farther away from the turn signal switch than necessary — intruding into the cockpit.
Hope Roy’s test fits look more promising…Early FF TDr on 69 VW pan
