Hey guys, if you are planning for buying a used car then it is essential to inspect the car correctly because buying a second hand car is not as easy as new car. Well, i am going to tell you a wonderful resource through which you can check and get car history report instantly. All you need to enter Vehicle Identification Number at http://bit.ly/Vincheck
January 3, 2018 at 5:54 pm #304534Hi guys.
One of your trusty admins here.
Please be careful. I did a little digging on safe-vehicle.com, which is the web site hidden behind the tiny url hary1232 posted above. the results are not good, and if I were in need a a vehicle report, I would not use safe-vehicle.com
Here is what I was able to determine:
The website presents itself as being based in the USA. But the true owner is WHOISGUARD, INC., based in Panama, with only a PO Box for an address. The site is less than a year old, which is not a red flag by itself; but combined with the misrepresentations being made, certainly is cause for concern.
I also found several reports that the side is a scam. Take a look: https://reportscam.com/safe-vehiclecom/?page=2
If you really need a report, the federal department of Justice has a number of approved vendors. There are icons for each about half way down this page (note that safe-vehicle is not one of them):

January 6, 2018 at 9:01 pm #304545I am looking at buying a Fiberfab MG TD that is in Arizona. The owner has the title and on it there are the dates of when he bought it(2013 in Az) and also the last title(2008 in IA). Only problem is I need to prove that it was finished and registered more than 15 years ago. That’s because I am importing it into Canada(only kit cars over 15 years allowed to be imported).
Any ideas of how I can get the older dates and title numbers? It says “First Registered 11/1952” so I don’t think that will fly with Canadian registration department!
Thanks for any help.
January 7, 2018 at 2:53 pm #304546If the vehicle is based of a VW chassis can you use the VIN from the VW? The VW VIN is located on the tunnel fore of the inspection plate covering the shift coupler, behind or under seats depending on whether you have bucket or bench style of seat

SabineJanuary 7, 2018 at 8:55 pm #304547Thanks, but it has a VIN (1132020212). I just need to be able to prove it was completed and registered over 15 years ago. The only thing he has now is the title that has “First Registered” and printed below that “11/1952”
I’m not sure they will buy that when I get it home and go to register it in BC. It is a replica of a 1952 car, but I doubt they will believe it was built then.
Any other suggestions?
January 7, 2018 at 9:46 pm #304548The VIN 113 202 0 212 according to the following may have been built in 1972 https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/bugchassisdating.php
If the current ownership has a 17 digit VIN you may be able to look it up on vehicle history.com or CARFAX, both which contain info on US registered vehicles
Also Fibrefab vehicles have a date stamp on the firewall, if you can consider fibreglass a firewall between the gas tank and the tub aka passenger compartment. Not sure if CBSA/Transport Canada would accept this info in lieu of a MV registration- This reply was modified 6 years, 10 months ago by Toller.

SabineJanuary 8, 2018 at 12:46 pm #304550The owner is going to go to the DMV office and see if he can get them to print out something to show that the original build was more than 15 years ago. If I can’t get something, I’m a little doubtful I can bring it in to BC and get it registered.
It only has the VIN from the original VW pan I’m guessing, as it matches up with the right time on the link you sent. Thanks for that. No 17 digit VIN to do a Carfax check.
I think I will try a call to Iowa where it was from in 2008. They might have something.
