Hello all. another MGTD kitcar owner here.

Cant seem to find gauges. or should I say as soon as I say aircooled VW nobody seems to know what to do… mainly because of senders.

I would like to put some classic looking gauges like vdo heritage or autometer oldies.

    anyone done this?

    VDO sending units at:

If you already have a source for VDO Heritage, the sending units above should work with them.

If you own a TDr and are not in the Registry, please go to https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/mg-td-replica-registry/ and register (you need to copy and paste the link)

Hi, I went to http://www.egauges.com and went with the VDO Cockpit Royal group as that group had a oil temperature gauge. I e-mailed the co. and told them what kit car on what doner car I had and they responded with the sender numbers to match the chosen gauges. I have a speedometer, tach, volt, fuel, and oil temp gauges on the way. Haven’t seen them yet as I am not home this week. I wanted a clock also and went with the Autometer Old Tyme white. I wanted a 90-95 mph speedometer, but none was available in the style and size I wanted. The speedometer and tach I bought are 3 1/8″ dia. as the holes in the dash are 3″, and I didn’t want the hassle of opening them up to 3 3/8″ or 5″. Hope this helps, Rollie

Real TD’s had large (5″ ?) diameter Speedo & Tach too. Not the 3.5″ diameter we usually see in our replica’s.

You really only need a Speedo & TACH both (large diameter), Fuel, Oil Pressure and Volts. The head temp senders are usually a spark plug washer style sensor.

I believe that it is still possible to get Smiths gauges rom the UK.  Not sure about cost but they do look cool.Classic instruments as recomended above are realy nice to.  i looking at changing mine to so that they look more like the originals.
