Bill, I’m hoping you’ll be bringing the car this year?

"Drive Happy"January 24, 2017 at 10:09 am #302830What happened? I’m no longer on the member list, But I can still sign in the old name and password?
Did any of the other old members have any trouble updating to the new format?
oops ok anyeay I was at Pikes Peak this year for the hill climb. One japanese team stayed right in our hotel.
not much to report, had to get new shocks last year and couldn’t find for a ’86 ford Cortina had to measure and have them special made. I got the name of the outfit if anyone needs it.?
Randy in Chandler Arizona, great B-bopp'in teritory. I must have the only one in the country made by Rich Industries in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on a 1986 Ford Cortina (english ford escort) It's a 1600cc straight four cylinder front engne, 4 speed, changed from right side driver to left side with several shafts and u-joints. BEBOP because I once had an MGB with license plate MG-BEPOP in Virginia.
July 9, 2017 at 5:02 pm #303729Okay, here you go. A collection of photos and film from this years Pagoda Hillclimb. At the end of the run at the turnaround the first person you see in the shadows on the right is our very own Ed Ericson (edsnova).

"Drive Happy"July 9, 2017 at 5:25 pm #303730A side note…
This weekend was the Giant’s Despair Hillclimb outside of Wilkes-Barre, PA. My son went for the first time. David ran the Sharpie car and on his second run set a new class record.

"Drive Happy"July 10, 2017 at 1:17 pm #303744Great video Bill. And great driving!
I really like the camera placement. Perfect view. And you appear to have worked out the engine/road noise vs wind noise balance!
That’s our man Ed. Always working in the shadows. Or is that lurking? I’m never quite sure!

July 10, 2017 at 7:39 pm #303746Good runs as always, Bill. Consistency.
I think I can speak for the SCCA gang there when I say that everyone here is invited to Reading, PA next month for the Duryea event. Show up, get a free t-shirt, hang out nice and close to the track, shoo-away any deer or joggers that get on the road and grab a fire extinguisher if things go south. You also get a sandwich! What could be better?
August 21, 2017 at 8:25 pm #303926This last weekend was the Duryea Hillclimb. Due to weather and the large number of novices it started late. I only had one run before lunch. On my second run in turn 10 my pcv hose separated and threw oil on the distributor. Even though it spit and bucked the last mile to the finish I took .4 seconds off my first run. I nailed the bottom end of the course. Well that was it for Saturday. I brought parts up at dawn on Sunday and made the necessary repairs. First Sunday run at turn 8 it began to spit and buck again. I made it to the finish and when I stopped I found that the cam seal had decided to let loose. Oh well, it was a beautiful day to watch a race.
My son, David, with his Sharpie car, shattered the class record he set last year by 3 seconds. That should stand a while.
When I stop sulking, I’ll bring the GoPro in and at least link one run. Here are some photos.

"Drive Happy"August 21, 2017 at 9:18 pm #303927Thanks Bill, Looks like despite some rough going, you’re still having fun.
Has David done any more to his car or is he “just” learning how to drive better?
August 22, 2017 at 11:57 am #303929David finally got his transmission sorted out. Different gear sets with a steeper final drive.
That, and he’s young and invincible.

"Drive Happy"August 22, 2017 at 7:45 pm #303930Good times, Bill. Sorry I had to miss this one; Karen and I were down in S. Carolina watching the eclipse.
I’m guessing/hoping your cam seal will be replaced and everything ship-shape long before VA Beach, yes?
August 22, 2017 at 7:51 pm #303931All right, here you go. First run, Saturday morning.
