I saw this somewhere on the internet, it said it was a MGTD Replica. Has anyone seen this before, or know anything about it?

February 20, 2015 at 7:41 am #263259I would never drive it . Why would you ruin your car?
February 20, 2015 at 9:37 am #263260Hideous.
But hard to tell what the heck it is.
Right hand drive. Wheels look good. But tires way wider than an original, which might mean wheels aren’t stiock. Folding windshield, but no top mounted wiper motor. Front engine. Side panels are louvered, so they are probably sheet metal and not fiberglass. The rod crossing behind the grill (between the headlight brackets), I don’t believe that is there on an original.Quite a mystery this one is.PMOSSBERG2015-02-20 09:46:20

Only took me about thirty seconds to find these:Paul Mossberg

February 20, 2015 at 2:09 pm #263263The hood on my TDR sticks up about 1/8″ inch at the back corners. It’s not that bad but I am a perfectionist. Probably the builder should have trimmed it before putting the car together, but this was the same guy who also misaligned the chrome strip so it’s not centered on the “radiator cap”. Of course it’s fiberglass, so it’s correctable, and I can have the body shop take care of all that when it gets repainted … but that’s a lot of labor cost. I wonder whether it would be easier to just buy an original hood and use that? Will an original hood fit a FF TDR?
February 20, 2015 at 7:56 pm #263264No.
I could be wrong on this one point but I am pretty sure almost or maybe completely no “real” panels fit any replicas. Has to do with the engineering and compromises necessary to make the body fit the VW pan–and even the front engine ones have the same issues, since once the companies made the VW version they based their Ford, Chevy and other versions off those molds.Measure your bonnet dimensions in 10-12 places and call up a TD person selling the bonnet parts. Ask him to take the same measurements. See what you think.
As I found when I tried to fit Moss door panels to my BCW doors, they are a half inch off here, a quarter inch there. The tubs are not quite the same either. And so the bonnet pieces are almost certainly different too–by just enough to make it almost worth trying. Almost. But not quite.edsnova2015-02-20 20:04:57
February 20, 2015 at 7:58 pm #263265And I like the Hippy mobile and too wonder what it is, exactly. I’m not gonna paint mine like that, but I love that someone had an idea that he hadn’t seen a million times and went ahead with it. To me, that’s the best thing about being a car nut.
