When I got the car, my 14 year old made me promise that I would take her to school in it. With her school out next week and running out of time, we made the trip today. The middle-schoolers seemed to love it, got lots of “cool” and “I want it”. Here we are leaving the house. Was a bit of a chilly morning, but the cold wind felt good.

Wait till she gets her driver’s license and wants to drive it!

"Drive Happy"May 13, 2016 at 10:10 pm #268070Lucky girl! Was either bus ride or 3 mile walk for me at 14. 😀Maybe she can get taken other places besides school this summer.Would also make a good learner car away from any traffic. Although I sure hope you don’t give her the key and let her go in it before she’s 20 years old, these cars being fairly unsafe and not at all like the store-bought kind!May 14, 2016 at 10:52 am #268071I was driving my LR past the high school and heard a girl and her boyfriend arguing whether my car was, in her words, “Cute”, or his words, “Cool”.
Thought it was funny; their first disagreement…Amor Conquista Todo

The local driver’s ed instructor told me it’s a “lost art”.
I’m not sure I’d want to use my LR to let someone learn to drive a stick…Amor Conquista Todo

InactiveDaughter bought a new Ford Focus several years ago it was a stick shift. I had to drive it home for her Took her for a 1 lesson on how to drive a stick shift . She has been driving it since then. and borrows my F150 Ford stick shift from time to time. Her friends and her husband never borrow her car It is a small theft protection, not many young people can drive standard shift cars.
May 14, 2016 at 1:18 pm #268074Around here you can tell who doesn’t know how to drive a stick shift. They accelerate and then when they shift from one gear to another, they lose most of the speed they had trying to get into the next gear. If you were watching from the side of the road you’d think they were rowing the vehicle along the street. Pretty sad but…it is fun to watch.
