    @winnipaw

    Just saw this lift advertized on local Craigslist. It is a drive on platform that raises car 30inches. Anyone have or seen one? Just want to know before shelling out $800. I’m tired of working under ramps and jacks. Thanks

    I can’t see that 30 inches off the ground to be a benifit.That’s about waist high.Not high enough to walk under,unless you are vertically challenged.You will still have to roll around on a creeper,but now you will have a platform and mechanicals of the lift in the way.This would be a handy lift for paint and body work,but thats about it.

    My 2 cents I would pass on it

    I agree…these are no better than a set of tall jack stands. Most end up not being used.

    I went ahead and bought the whole lift system. It came with a caster set which allows me to move the whole assembly around the garage. I know you guys advised me not to, however, once I saw it in action I couldn’t resist it. It allows me to sit up while under the car. I’ve been able to detail the chassis and check out every suspension part without any hassle. I thought it wasn’nt enough lift as you did, but you’d be surprised at what 30 inches allows you to do. I’ll post a picture of this assembly. Thanks for the help

    This is a better view of how it will work with a TD. This photo came from the lift manufacturer.

    I agree about the mechanicals of the lift being in the way, but I do like the lift. It is nice that the car sits as it would on the road, springs and shocks depressed, etc. that could come in handy for certain things. It would have been nice when the top nut on my rear shocks was loose and could only be detected if on a lift like this one. Keep the jack stands in storage for other repairs, like brakes. Nice purchase winnipaw. I can see this lift being used for all sorts of work. I use the tall jack stands but they are not 30″ high. Let us know how it works out. I wonder about reach range on a creeper to the higher stuff you have to reach from below, it may not be an issue. The guy in the pic appears to have to flex / bend upward to grab stuff that is higher than the bottom surface of the car.

    James, I found the most convenient thing about this lift is accessibility to the under dash assembly. I’m working on the floors, steering, and wiring from a standing position. I love it so far. Thanks for your response. The reach range you referred to is not a problem with the adjustable creeper. This company thought of everything. It has also turned out to be a great work surface or shelf for tools.

    I didn’t think of the shelf aspect. I usually keep my tools under the creeper so I can’t find them when I need them . I did install a magnetic knife rack to the creeper and my tools snap to the 12″ long magnet and I keep nuts and bolts on the magnet as a holding area. Harbor Freight has the wrist magnetic band that works fairly well for nuts and bolts.

    Good find Leon. . You may want to put one of the magnetic knife / tool racks in an easy to reach spot on the lift. It sure has been great for me.
