August 18, 2012 at 9:31 am #251456Very nice. What kind of G’s does it pull on the skidpad?
August 18, 2012 at 2:59 pm #251457Yes, I did drive it. Fun car, but not for me. The rear view mirror is directly in my line of vision. I couldn’t put up with that everyday. She’s much shorter and can look under it. Skid pad test put it at .87 g’s with the factory 17″ run flats. I have a set of 18″ wheels from her old one, which when fitted with performance rubber, will vastly improve that number.
I told her to get about 1,000 miles on it before she kicks it in the ass and spools up the turbo to maximum boost. So, guess where she’s at? Running up some miles !!Bill Ascheman

June 3, 2014 at 6:53 pm #251461What a way to start the day. This was on Patti’s way to work. A Nissan Pathfinder changed lanes without looking.(Yes, they were cited). Spun her around and bounced her off a curb before stopping in the middle of the highway. She was unhurt and managed to drag it to the shoulder. All the Pathfinder suffered was a scuff on the front bumper cover.

Glad she’s OK & you’re insured. The lower control arm on that rear passenger corner looks like it might need some straightening.June 4, 2014 at 3:41 am #251463I’m told that the control arms are designed to snap. This saves the mounting points from pulling and distorting the unibody. Sometimes auto engineers use their heads.billnparts2014-06-04 03:42:32

"Drive Happy"June 4, 2014 at 6:40 am #251464Hah. That sounds smart. But I wonder if the rally guys need to get aftermarket control arms. 🙂
Best to Patti.June 4, 2014 at 7:10 pm #251465Nine Grand was the estimate. Should have it back in a month.

"Drive Happy"August 10, 2014 at 2:50 pm #251466Wednesday, after 64 days in the body shop we picked up the car. $12K worth of repairs. 90% of the rear suspension was replaced along with a new exhaust system. Even the floor of the trunk was buckled. Car looks good, all the gaps are tight and even and she goes down the road straight with no squeaks or rattles. We managed to take in the beginning of the last leg of “MINI Takes the States”, a bi-annual cross trek of hundreds of MINI owners.

I would have liked to do more with this event but the car wasn’t ready. MTTS 2016?
