She’s running! Everything seems to be working fine but she does have an oil leak that looks like is coming from the main seal. Way beyond my level of expertise. I guess I will keep an eye on it and see what I need to do to get it fixed.
The wife has already taken possession. Here is a link to a flickr set with other photos if you care to see more.

August 20, 2014 at 7:58 pm #261056That looks very, very nice, Vicenç. I especially like the flag on the top of the radiator shell, just under the MotoMeter. I’ve never seen one of those before. I see from your web page that the TDr was given to you by a friend. Wow — now that’s a friend!

I guess the original builder took one of the flag decals that were supposed to go on either side in front of the doors and put in on the radiator shell. I don’t know why but it is a little different.Vicenç - (bee sense)

"Drive Happy"August 22, 2014 at 9:13 pm #261059That’s a nice looking vehicle. I’m sorry I can’t give you advice about the oil leak, but there are still a lot of guys out there who understand the air-cooled VW engine and who will be happy to provide advice, if nothing else. And adding a bit of oil now and then is a small price to pay for the fun of driving it.
August 25, 2014 at 10:46 pm #261060Hey Brother
My mechanic said to see if the main pulley will move back and forth if you pull on it. If it moves then its your main seal. If not, check the breather tube you may have oil leaking out when the engine is hot. Hope this helps.August 26, 2014 at 4:39 am #261061Thanks for the tip, Rick! I will try that (when it’s not o dark thirty :D) and let you know.

August 26, 2014 at 9:35 pm #261062Well, I checked the main pulley and it doesn’t budge but the breather tube was plugged up with a piece of a wooden dowel. I removed that to see what happens next.
