I have two new bumpers for the chevette kit one is longer than the other.
the longer one has what appears to be a crank hole in the center so I thought it might be the front but on the other hand the rear fenders are wider on the chevette kit than on my VW migi which led me to believe its for the back. anyone know which is which?August 8, 2010 at 8:25 am #241891Will, MG Magic’s parts list shows the following,
Front bumper, rear engine kit 53” across
Front bumper front engine kit 57 1/2 ” across
Rear bumper MG Kit 55 1/2 across
Rearbumper MG Kit 61 1/2” across, special , no longer available.
Perhaps your kit was shipped with the shorter rear bumper because the longer one is not available any more.
If it works better to use the longer one on thr rear ,you could use a chrome bolt and washer to plug the crank hole.

DanAugust 9, 2010 at 10:57 am #241893The rear bumper on my BCW VW has a hole in the middle. There’s a bolt through it into a bracket.
Looks like the originals have a center hole too.
Just FYI

Who knew they made those?

October 1, 2010 at 12:07 pm #241897It’s a low-quality build, Paul, using obsolete technology. Admirable attempt though! And quite popular in their day.
October 1, 2010 at 2:23 pm #241898Now that….was funny!
