My brother just inherited a car from a friend. Unfortunately we can not find the title. Possibly someone on the forum can help me id the original owner. License: Iowa 699 NTB. Currently I do not have an specifics. I saw it briefly. My brother would like to get re-licensed. Question, is there place on the vehicle one could look for number, VIN or what ever. Obtaining previous owner through License number appears to not possible through DMV. TX Jerry

Is your brother’s TD VW based? Or front engine?
If it is VW based, it is likely the titling state used the VW pan vin, which is stamped into the center tunnel, under the TD’s seat.
If it is front engine, there might be a VIN plate ona door jamp, under the hood on the firewall, perhaps near the windshield where factory built cars have their VIN plate.
