Greetings to all
I am a newbie to kit cars, having become the third owner of a vw-fiberfab on a cold winter day last December.
I will try to post a few pics as I become familiar with the mechanics of the website but for now I want to thank everyone for all the knowledge they have shared in the forums.
This site and Samba made it possible for me to figure out so many problems and get my replica up and running without wasting all kinds of time and money. The car is now drive able and fairly presentable just in time for the good weather.Specifics:
Fiberfab FM 1775 MGTD. Model (serial?) 1102584474
Built in 1985 or so
1970 VW base. 1600 cc (I think) single port single carb 12 volt w/generator
Typical tan interior, brown shag carpet with dead mouse option
8,000 miles
British Racing Green
Quality of build – so so
Condition pretty good, has spent a lot of time in indoor storage.
Chrome in very good condition
Top in very good condition but no side curtainsThanks again and best regards

April 9, 2014 at 8:13 am #260125Welcome aboard Rich. Looking forward to seeing some photos. from what you posted you have an option that mine didn’t come with…that dead mouse option. MG Magic has new carpet for your kit and it is reasonably priced. Keep hanging with us and you’ll have her looking like new in no time. There is a ton of knowledge here and the members are, well…terrific!

"If one thing matters, everything matters" - from the book The ShackApril 9, 2014 at 1:58 pm #260126Thanks for the prompt welcomes.
I should add that another attractive feature of this forum (compared to some others) is that the experienced hands avoid launching into personal debates while leaving us newbies lost in the dust. Thank you for that. Two problems so far online:
Unable to post a photo so far. Once I used an appropriate size file it seemed to upload but I am unable to figure out how to add it to my introduction, profile, or gallery or re access it.
I do not have any photos stored online.I am interested in purchasing the club badge for my empty badge bar but cannot open the “buy with credit card” tab. Are they available?
The sun’s out. Going driving today.
Best regards

April 9, 2014 at 4:24 pm #260128Welcome and you’re right about how useful is this site and its members. one of the things you’ll learn quickly is how to use the search. ie search “badge” and you’ll find the advice to contact Bill Collins.
I think everything there is to know about TDr’s is already here. Members still will respond almost instantly but for me reviewing what’s here often helps me ask a smarter question.
I think mouse is actually standard equipment, might have been option on early models.

April 9, 2014 at 6:17 pm #260129To post photo… Click on the the strange double square with the arrow. This takes you to another dialogue box with more stuff on it. Click on the tree with the “up” arrow on it. This takes you to yet another box that allows you to search your library for the photos you want to post.. Clear as mud, right?

Got it. Works fine on my desktop computer but not so good on the Ipad.

At 2546 miles, I’m afraid not. Maybe someday.April 10, 2014 at 1:55 pm #260135😎
I was told that the builder worked for Boeing so who knows what he came up with. They are lamped with 100w h-4’s and the ammeter dips when they are turned on.
I recently remounted them to eliminate the “cross eyed” look shown in the photo.
I would prefer amber for looks.Kall2014-04-10 13:58:20 -
