    Hello everyone,

I picked up a used VW MGTD kit last week here in So. Cal. It’s my first kit. It

looks like she has sat outside for a long time so I will have to go through

every thing and bring her back to life.

Before I do that I may need few body parts and I am hopeful you guys can

    help me find it.

One of the first things I noticed is that the front of the hood was not cut

    parallel with the front grill.

Does anyone know where I can locate a new fiberglass hood?

    Regards

    Harmik

All TD kits are not built to the same dimensions. If your kit is Fiberfab or CMC you are in luck. MGMagic stocks parts for them.

Sure it’s the hood and not the grill being mounted crooked?

If the hood is really wrong you can probably build out the end a little with some flat stock. Flange it, ‘glass or epoxy (and maybe rivet) it to the lip underneath and then fill the top with bondo.

Hey guys, This is kinda funny this was actually the guy I got my TDr from. 😆

Unfortunately more than just the hood is crooked… Seems like just about everything on the front end is different on either side.
I’ll need a new daily driver before I can tackle that project though.

Where in S/CA are you, I’m in Sun City, just north of Temecula.  Still restoring my FF replica.

    Hi,

I know where Borrego Springs is, about 85 miles from Sun City.  Good place to spend the winter.  If I ever get my car finished, the garage keeps telling me next month, they’ve been telling me that since last Novermber,  maybe we can meet.  I have a FF with a VW.  Getting it repainted, rewired, reupholstered, carpeting, new stereo, new guages and dash. pin-stripped, new fake wire wheels, new horns,  rechromed all the small stuff, hydralic cluctch and brake installed, powder-coated engine pieces, got all the rust cut out and new metal installed, and a small 12V refrigerator in the back.

If, Big IF, I’m lucky, and car is finished next month, maybe we can meet this winter.

    Hey Brothers and Sisters

I’m also located in So Cal.  I live in Huntington Beach and also in East Highland Ranch.  Not far from Sun City.

Just a thought, wouldn’t it be great to arrange an annual event here on the West Coast for those who can’t make it back East for all the fun we’ve been reading about?  I love to read about new members out here and I’d love to meet you all and spend some quality time with those who love their kits as much as I do.  What do you think?  We could start small with maybe a cruise down the coast or a meet in a park, or even a British Pub or something.  I still have some more work to do on Eliza Jane before she’s road ready but I’d move up the schedule if we could come up with a date around Christmas or so.  Could be lots of fun and who knows what this could lead to, I think it could turn into something real special.  So who’se in?

member nuts&bolts has FF body parts. I would ask for photos with tape measure overlays to be certain you don’t get more of what you got. and you want to make sure you order all you need as freight from Toronto Canada will be an issue. On the other hand I suspect you can negotiate a good price. good luck

    Hi,

Would love to get a get together for in S/CA.  MrHydrant aka Rob Haettich comes to S/CA in the winter, staying in Borrego Springs.  Since he is the furthest out, maybe we could meet somewhere in the middle? Again, my meeting depends on whether my restoration is completed “Next Month”, the stock answer I get regarding my car every time I ask.

Here’s some pics of my car when I got in in November 2013, before any work was started.

The wife and I won’t be heading out to Borrego till after the Holidays  (grand children you know)  and plan on leaving before mid April  (to hot)  I don’t bring out my MG but it would be fun to get together and talk and see yours.

OK, maybe we could call it our first annual “So Cal Spring Fling”. That should be more than enough time for me to get my ride ready. How about the rest of you? We could work on a summer event then fall and winter later on.
I aint scaired of driving distances, after all thats what Auto Club is for. Youd laugh at the stupid places Ive been stranded in. Hey, maybe we could give a prize to the best break down experience and another for the longest traveled club member to join us.
Just want to send some love to the fine people who started this great club in the first place. Much respect and Im drinking a beer in your honor as Im writing this post.

Welcome, I am still bringing mine back. I have learned so much from this site. I am close to getting the body back on and getting Miss Mary on the road. Enjoy
