Does anyone have experience replacing the speedometer cable on a VW based car?
Mine went out and I need to change it out.
It doesn’t look TOO difficult, but getting it out of the wheel end is the issue.
YOUTUBE has a good video, so think it would it be any different for a TDr?

There should be a tiny C-clip on the cable end that sticks out through the grease cap on the wheel. A little pick or eyeglass screwdriver will get it off. Then just pull it out from behind. The other end has a screw collar on the back of the speedometer. Order a bus cable to replace it, and squirt some liquid graphite in the sheave before installing it.
