    @sabreur76

    I don’t know how I did it but I managed to lose a piece of trim from the driver’s side running board.  I checked with MG Magic but, of course, all they sell is a complete set that doesn’t even look like mine and at $100.  Does anyone have any idea what I can use to replace this?

    I can’t post a pic but here’s a link to Flickr so you can see what I’m talking about:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/sabreur/19002511838/in/dateposted-public/
    Thanks in advance, all!

    Typical body side molding used from the ’70’s. You can still get the kits but the problem is extra ends. You need extra end caps and I have no idea where to get just those separately.

    Were the original a rubber-like material
    or were the originals made out of wood? I once thought of using mahogany or dark teak for those strips.

    TD’s were rubber.

    I got the end caps, it’s just the rubber.  I’ve looked on the internet but haven’t found anything close yet and the local auto parts, Napa and Pep Boys, are just about useless.

    Boat store?

    Also have seen similar product on van roofs to keep luggage in rack from scratching paint.

    Interesting to note that my TDr does not have that nice separation molding between the fender and the running board.

    Boat store sounds like a possible winner.  I guess I’ll look around for one of those and see what I can find.
