I’m posting this on the outside chance the owner of the TD is in our club.
Wierd Al Yankovic in an MG TD Replica parade car. The picture from his web site is a bit small…but the raised seat set-up looks pretty sharp.
I get involved in some local parades and would really like to know how this seat is attached.

August 11, 2007 at 9:05 am #237087Hey Paul, It looks like one of the early original style luggage racks that has a nice cushion on top..Moss still sells these as well as one which is bumper height. While I’m here, I’ll ask you if you know what the original TDs wheel colors were? I asked a while back and got a reply about steering wheels..I’m talking about tire wheels.. were they the same color as the body, standard silver, black or does anyone really know? Thanks you guys..Mike
August 11, 2007 at 1:04 pm #237088Hey Paul I noticed the “05” number and some stickers on the side of the car are they “stickers” or “magnets” and if magnets maybe it is a real TD ??? But great questions Mike has for you, I was wondering the same…I keep going around with what to do with the wheels and tires thing as well…
August 12, 2007 at 8:37 am #237089A real TD has the wipers on the top of the windshield, and the reps have the wipers in the cowl. That was the only giveaway for me.
August 14, 2007 at 4:56 pm #237090It’s definitely not an original TD. The wipers are one give-away. The curve to the top of the rear fenders is kit, not original. There are latches on the “hood”, on an original would have a piano hinge there.
Original TD’s have steel wheels, painted silver. Eastwood carries the paint in spray cans. It’s right here:
http://www.eastwoodco.com/jump.jsp?itemID=98&itemType=PR ODUCT
The Eastwood description says this is for wire wheels. But trust me, it is the same color for steel wheels.
The TD wheels are 15″, just like VW Type 1. The TD wheels have round holes, VW’s are oval. But they are close. Original TD hubcaps will not fit the VW wheel. I tried. You can weld stubs for the caps to clip over, but they still won’t look right. YOu can come close with Chrome VW hubcaps with repro TD centers. I’ve done this to my TD (see pics in the gallery, PMOSSBERG folder).

August 14, 2007 at 8:28 pm #237091I looked in Moss Motors for the emblems to mount in my cap centers.I just can”t seem to find them.I scouted around the website but did not see them listed anywhere.I know they have them, others have bought them.Maybe I just have to get myself back into British thinking mode,as in if you need a tailight part look in the radio section of the parts book.
August 14, 2007 at 10:33 pm #237092Right here my friend…
Moss Motors has the hubcap centers. They are $8.50 each.

August 30, 2007 at 9:33 pm #237093How do these hubcap centers attach? I have vw caps that have the BCW letters on them. They are held on by two holes with posts and locks. I would rather put MG logos on them. Except I have just bought 5 VW caps and have allready drilled them.
August 31, 2007 at 10:36 am #237094The TD centers attach with a single post, backing felt and a single cotter pin.
