Cry Boy, Talk about two steps forward and one step back. EVERYTHING on this car is a struggle. I thought it would be an easy project (after all what can go wrong, it’s all VW parts) but this has turned into replacing or correcting everything the PO did (who told me a little old Lady owned it but I actually think it was his first try at building at kit when he was 12 years old). It was a pile of corroded junk I purchased sight unseen when I went up north to Chico, CA to fetch it back to San Diego. I had to cut off ALL the screws, bolts and nuts being rusted so bad. Replaced the trans and put in a new 1600 single port. The floor pans were shot and missing seats. Installed new pans and patched perforations. Went thru Bug seats, Ghia seats and garden tractor seats none of which were the proper size. Finally used a left MIGI cushion as a template to make two new cushions (picked up today for $140), picked up a rusted, weather rotted upper back seat and stripped the unusable covering, bead blasted and rust busted the seat frame. Need to reduce width about 4 inches and get upholstered. Other than that I’m now in the process of rewiring and buttoning up the body, hope to run some gas thru the new tank into the Holly Bug Spray and light her off. It’s definitely been an adventure and I’m in way too much to give up now. Attaching a photo as picked up off eBay, it was in worse condition than appears here. At least it’s now BRG with black fenders! My tribute to “The Prisoner Number 6”, too bad it’s not a Lotus 7 but it’s as close as I can get. More photos and topics to follow.

Another example of the “Snowball Effect”. Hang in there. If you get it rolling, there’s the long distance award waiting at Carlisle.
    Oh, and Happy Birthday ????
