I had another brain fart the other week. Ive decided to fabricate a mount for a tow bar. Amazon supplied the tow bar, but I have to make something for it to mount to. I know a guy that does maintenance at a local scrap yard who not only supplied the material, but had someone else at the yard fabricate the supports from my cardboard template. Now that I have all the parts, all I need is to find the time to put it all together. Drill four holes to mount the supports where the front bumper brackets mount to the frame and weld it all together.
This should keep wear off the race tires to and from events as well as serve as emergency transport.

This one too. The link is for the user to start a new set. It’s not a link to your pics.

"Drive Happy"October 11, 2015 at 8:51 pm #265661Nice , Bill. Looks like it’ll work.
October 12, 2015 at 12:09 am #265662Great that you were able to put that together. I was lucky enough to get the tow bar from previous owner that looks like others seen for sale, having U-clamps to attach to VW chassis.
Is yours going to keep clear of the bumper okay? Pictures make it look very close if hitch end pivoted upward. As in entering/leaving road from some higher elevation parking lots, etc. Although the hitch is already lifted up for the pictures and not laying on the ground.October 12, 2015 at 3:35 am #265663The hitch ball would have to be over 20″ off the ground for the tow bar to contact the bumper.
