    @pmossberg

    Hi gang,

    Got any suggestions for cleaning a Type 1 gas line? (The steel line that runs through the tunnel.)

    The saga of my Duchess and the engine continues.

    The 1776 ran GREAT, for a while. Than started stuttering and stalling and now won’t start.

    Carbs are fine. Gas filter is new. Screen in fuel pump is clean as a whistle. But gas flow seems to be less than optimal and I suspect there might be some restricitons in the gasline.

    I do not have an air compressor, so blowing it out to see if it is clear isn’t really an option.

    Thanks.

    @edsnova

    brake line power bleeder? Or maybe a turkey baster and a bit of hose?

    Also, did you check the bit of fuel line that runs along the top of the transaxle? There was about a 6-inch length of hose on mine that just about disintegrated last year.

    @newkitman

    I used PORs Marine Clean squirted into the fuel tube of my 74 Ghia. Let it sit for about an hour and then blew it out with my air compressor. As you don’t have an air compressor, perhaps use some carb cleaner with the power bleeder like Ed suggested. That sounds like it’ll work.

    @pmossberg

    Thanks guys. Good ideas.

    Yes Ed, I’ve been all over the rubber bits.

    I think the bicycle pump will win the day, at least for now.
    Shoot some cleaner in from both ends, then tape the bike pump to the gas line.
