Marc, You are right of course.  I wasn’t very descriptive in calling it an offset bracket.  But… isn’t the cooler itself the same?  ie., the same old 1500 cooler with a new mounting bracket that has internal passages instead of mounting directly to the top of the case?  The result being that the cooler is moved a few inches forward, out of the direct air path to #3&4 cyl so in effect the “doghouse cooler” becomes and external oil cooler?  I thought that I could use my existing cooler??  Or would I have to buy another cooler also.  (This is exactly where I am on rebuilding my 1500 engine.  I am about to put MiGi’s fan shroud on and wondering if I should spring for a doghouse cooler, big fan and associated tin work.  This project is running over budget and retired $$ age harden and don’t stretch as well as they used to.)

The tins separate the top from the bottom and force the cool air from the top through the engine and out the bottom.  Without the tim, it sucks back up and through again, thereby trying to cool the engine with hot air.  I had a local bug shop bolt on used bits and pieces and fill in with sheetmetal.  It made a vast different in the running temps.
