A comment from Roy in another thread prompts me to begin this one.
If you are currently involved in a build, either from the ground up or rebuilding a used TD replica, let us know by replying to this thread with your name and the car you are building. And as a couple builders have done already…why not start your own build thread in the My Projet forum? We don’t want to take time away from your build…but we all like reading project stories! Thanks!Paul Mossberg

December 8, 2012 at 4:57 am #253273I’m Building!
I have a 1988 CMC MG/TD kit that has never been assembled. It came with the body and rear fenders sitting on the chassis. The rest was still in plastic, boxes, or sorted in little numberd baggies.I will start a build thread in the comming days…But 1st, I have a question about insurance. My agent thinks the best way to insure the car is for an “Agreed Upon Value”. It will be titled in Indiana as a 2013 Built Vehicle (Custom). My question is… What is a “reasonable” value for a recently completed kit? (assuming that the chassis is overhauled, and the kit is assembled as it should be)I have no intention on value(ing) the car to sell it, (just ask my wife… I have a reall hard time parting with anything I put alot of time into (her included.. lol) only a value for insurance purposes. Thanks! DougDecember 8, 2012 at 8:58 am #253274Doug, Unless the premium is way too high, I’d recommend about $10,000. I understand that ”agreed value” is better than ”stated value” .I am assuming that you are going with a speciality ins company and not just adding it to your reg auto policy. OOPS, I forgot about your VWs, you probably are VERY aware of collector car coverage.
December 8, 2012 at 9:37 am #253275Since you can buy a nice driver for $4k, I’ll second $10k, which is about double what mine is insured for.
December 8, 2012 at 4:00 pm #253276An Insurance thread:
https://tdreplica.com/forums/topic/classic-car-insurance/#post-238547
And a request reminder…please keep subjects and content aligned.
I started a “what am I building thread” and now more than half the posts are about insurance.
I realize it’s easy to just type away in whatever thread you are in. But that clutters the thread and also makes it difficult for other users, and especially new users to search the forum data.
No harm done here, but if you have a new topic, please start a new thread.

December 8, 2012 at 4:31 pm #253277I’m rebuilding, from the ground up, a 1982 Classic Roadster Duchess on a VW frame.
I already have a thread under My Project forum

December 8, 2012 at 5:43 pm #253278Ayready under “My Project” is Alfred, my CMC MG, originally a Chevette based kit, but being stubborn and willing to take on big projects, I decided to do a Mustang II based build.

May 12, 2013 at 2:50 pm #253279I purchased a bug restored in 2006 with a 72 body 68 pan and 70 1.6 engine. Excellent runner, showed my son how to drive a standard before I removed and sold the body. Bought a FF/CMC kit from the early 90’s? that was basically untouched. Fairly complete other than main rear angle iron frame, seat boxes, some gauges and almost no hardware. Next I will decamber rear wheels, move pedals and shifter back. As it ran very well and was recently restored I have no plan to upgrade anything till I have kit assembled and running. Retiring May 30 (13 more get ups) but golf, landscaping and serious honeydo list will limit kit progress a bit. Hoping for the fall of this year but you folks will have to keep me informed and from time to time motivated. Thanks in advance. Instructions for moving shifter back seem simple as soon as I find somebody with an 8 foot arm.
MikeMay 12, 2013 at 2:55 pm #253280Welcome, Mike. Lots of people here have built and a few are still building. We’ll try our best to help and watch your progress with interest.
May 12, 2013 at 4:02 pm #253281Mike,
Do you have an assembly manual?
A number of them are available here, click the Download Manuals link in the left side bar.
I can’t speak for all of them, but the Classic Roadsters manuals (at the bottom of the page) have excellent instructions for relocating the pedal cluster and shifter.
