Bit of a shipping issue, potentially, but this ebay find might be a good buy for someone wanting to convert to or build-in the fold-down windshield option. The ad writer says it’s from a TD2000 “but will fit” a regular TD with some specified modification. Starts at $100, Aussie money.
Real TD windscreens come up for sale from time to time but are usually in crappy shape and go for big bucks. I predict this one will likely go cheaper because it’s from a TD2000–of which about six have been made–and because it lacks the proper “pins” sticking up in which you can secure the TD top. Those things will scare away the TD purists, leaving the bidding open for us tinkerers.
The good news: If you want/need ’em you can make the pins yourself with some angle iron and a welder, and install them by taking the frame apart–which you’ll have to do to get the glass shop to make you a new ($100 or so) flat glass windshield.
Bonus: no windscreen wiper motor holes to fill. (This will also discourage the TD purists)
Bottom line: if you are even thinking about maybe wanting a fold-down windscreen for your replica TD that doesn’t currently have that feature, you should probably buy this one, and tell the seller to go ahead and smash out that glass before shipping it. It’s just dead weight and in will in no way be needed by the glass shop stateside to make you a new one.
$250 or $300 would not be at all unreasonable, imho. And it’s probably worth a bit more than that, since it’s the full kit.
Those side brackets have been known to go for a couple hundred each, needing rechroming.
So grab it and, if you decide it’s not for you, relist it later on ebay and market it to hot rodders on the HAMB. You’ll get your money back and then some.

April 6, 2012 at 12:05 pm #249981good luck. Hope I’m right about the price.
April 7, 2012 at 12:51 pm #249982I wish I knew for sure if it would fit. Thats one of the things I would like to change on mine. I’m not sure I’m up to alot of fiberglass changes to make it fit.
April 12, 2012 at 9:00 pm #249983Still $105 with seven hours to go. If no one grabs it I might pick it up meself just for the spares.
April 14, 2012 at 9:11 am #249984Anyone get it? I forgot all bout it last nite. Oh well, missed again.
April 14, 2012 at 10:26 am #249985Sold for $147 and some change.

April 14, 2012 at 3:29 pm #249987I thought it was a good buy. I tried too but didn’t want to get up at 4am to bid any higher.
