December 28, 2014 at 12:36 am #235518We have been having really mild weather in South Eastern PA in the last couple of days so my wife and I decided to take a ride out in the Brandywine Valley this morning. Here’s a shot of Montse in front of Baldwin’s Book Barn in West Chester, PA.It was a great day for a ride and we really enjoyed it. I am dreading having to put this little car away for the winter. Maybe I should reconsider moving back to New Bern or Baton Rouge.

December 28, 2014 at 5:10 am #262491Vincenc, when did you live in New Bern? I’m an upstate New Yorker who had had enough hard winters (and traffic and taxes). I tried but couldn’t tolerate the Florida heat.
New Bern is a great little city of 30,000. Every few years we get a snow that lasts for a few days – just right. I do miss the northern twisty roads and long vistas of the northeast, but NC’s western mountains are an acceptable substitute.Come on down and join us. With Happy Jack’s two and my one, we’d have 4 TDr’s and would be the unofficial TDr capital.
You would have to buy a house that had a garage ceiling high enough to put in the lift that neither Jack nor I have. 😉 …and we’ll even fix your main seal leak.
December 28, 2014 at 9:12 am #262492or Come on down to Wilmington which is even nicer and warmer plus beautiful blue water
December 28, 2014 at 9:23 am #262493Hey guys!
I lived in New Bern from 91 until 95, had a house in Trent Woods, on Steeplechase, with a nice two car garage but not high enough for a lift. My son lived in Wilmington for a while, he did his undergrad at UNC there. Would love to come back and join you guys… and put up that lift.

yes and I could borrow your lift every now and then 🙂December 29, 2014 at 6:13 pm #262495Hey I got Bridget out to the grocery store today and had enough time to take a ride down to the park too. 45 degrees is OK at 30 mph.
No overheating either!Dang valve cover drips on the catalytic converter though. ratsa fratsa…edsnova2014-12-29 19:39:46
December 29, 2014 at 8:05 pm #262496Thanks for the photos. You guys are making me feel guilty for winterizing mine.
December 29, 2014 at 8:09 pm #262497No photo proof, but I had mine out Saturday. No running boards or rear cover but it was a beautiful day.

"Drive Happy"December 29, 2014 at 9:51 pm #262498It was 40 degrees here today. I took the bike out because it was bright and clear. I got five miles down the road and my hands told me I had to turn around a get back. I guess 40 degrees at 60 mph without handwarmers is not doable. 😕

December 29, 2014 at 9:54 pm #262499One of the Speedster guys drives his all winter. He wears welding gauntlets, I think over thinner driving type gloves. Works for him.
December 29, 2014 at 10:35 pm #262500Watta Ya talkin’ ’bout? I drive all winter.
I admit, sometimes you got to dress for the part…

December 29, 2014 at 10:47 pm #262501John, is that a collapsible steering column on your TDr?
December 30, 2014 at 1:20 am #262502No, My steering column is rigid. It was originally the Chevy Chevette column with the switches and all hanging on it. I didn’t think the look matched with the rest so I removed the Chevette parts and constructed a setup more like the original.
I moved the ignition switch and turn signal to the panel in keeping with the ‘look’.
when I installed the new engine I had to route the steering column around the exhaust manifold.
The Chevette engine had the intake on the left and ehaust on the right. The new S-10 engine is just the opposite.By adding another universal joint.

December 30, 2014 at 1:31 am #262503I found a better pix of the steering column.

December 30, 2014 at 5:22 pm #262504I’d think about maybe purring a collapse cage above that first U-joint. Jes sayin’.
Hey and on another subject: I’ve always liked those Demotivational posters and for two years wanted to make one with the TD and the dog. So today my wife and I dragged Fritz down to the marina and we finally did it.The over caption:Speed: not always an advantageConfidence: not always a strengthDecember 30, 2014 at 5:50 pm #262505Great shot. Great caption.????
