April 22, 2014 at 2:58 pm #235165these are real wire knocks offs. I have included a few pics. I have 5 with an adapter for each. (spare also has an adapter) The adapter does bolt onto the 4 bolt hubs. I assume the hubs are standard for most years. I purchased stock vw rims for a 67 and the new rims bolted on perfectly so that is what i can say about that.
As for size. I can inly say they are 15 in. I have not pulled the tires of to measure their width so i cant tell you and of this specifics. The tires were a but smaller than you normally find. They were old tires. When i bought it last summer the guy had owned for several years and i dont think he ever changed tires. The DOT stamp said they were from 2002 so when i bough the new rims i also bough all new tires. But the ones that are currently on the old rims are 165r 15 86t. The tires i had on them were also tubed. That lead to problems. Many tire places will not touch tubes because most tires are not rates for tubes so they perceive that as a liability. The reality is of course that they work fine but legal wont let them work on them. You need to run tubes because the way the spokes come through they create air leaks. More like the inside of a bike tire. I understand new wire wheels do not have this problem. But then again they run a few grand to buy new.
They seem to line up well with the width of the car but then again i have yet to park next to an original or even another kit so unsure what they should look like. I have attached a picture or the car with the wheels so you can make a judgment.let me know what you think. They have a rust in crevices. Not rusted out by any means but would take some elbow grease to get it off because of it being on the wires and in the nooks and cranny’s.Here is a link to my Google drive. I hope this works. Cost?April 22, 2014 at 10:45 pm #260248Sweet looking set of wheels, man. And pretty rare. They look like they’d clean up nice and be a good candidate for powder.
The hubs are cool too–no splines like the MWS proper British have. Nice thick teeth instead, so they’ll lock on.I’m sorely tempted but with the new power plant I think it can be said that I’m “taking my car in a different direction.”April 26, 2014 at 6:48 pm #260249Hmm now im thinking maybe i should hang on to them and powder coat them someday. Didnt realize they were that unique.
