    @dbrock

    I have a wierd problem (aren’t they all with a v-dub engine?)  If I turn on the radio, all of the gauges pulsate.  The same thing happens when the turn signal is on, but to a much lesser degree.  The temp gauge will actually climb about 15 degrees.  I’m assuming that it is something to do with the grounds.  Any ideas?

    I agree with your first guess. Trace all those grounds and make sure they are clean and tight.

    After that I would go after the power supply lines, from fuse box to each device, maybe something is tapped in after the fuse box.

    Those two will keep you busy for a while.

    Thanks, Paul. Bridget has the same issue. Tach pulses when the signal lights are flashing or when I hit the brakes… I’ll redo it all this winter. Today the instrument lights went out. Interesting trip back from Dr. Clock’s Speedster (etc.) Pumpkin Run.

    The good news?

    1. amazing weather
    2. Brakes work
    3. No mishaps
    4. holy crap! Bridget is a full 20 percent faster than I thought! Turns out the speedo was geared wrong, 40 mph on it = 50 mph on planet Earth. I’m actually doing 60 mph at 3000 rpm. She was doing it all day, too, back roads and on the highway, with plenty of overhead. Able to keep up reasonably well with Dale Schumacher and the Speedster guys.

    ‘Course, that means the mileage is low by 20 percent. Bridget’s got some serious miles on her, turns out–closer to 50k than 40k…
