For anyone new like myself and reading this thread, this video is awesome pertaining to valve adjustments!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3MgWSXTwWQStill can’t find a picture or description of a full flow filter. 🙁

I can’t even figure out where the valve cover is on this thing yet. LOL Any advice with valve adjustment? Also trying to figure out if my engine has been converted to a full flow filter and, if so, where the filter would be located. I have already done some research about the draining of oil and replacement of factory fil…[Read more]

It’s alive! 😮 What a $10 siphon pump from Harbor Freight can do! I used the pump to make sure the line was clear to the gas tank. A few pumps and it was bubbling away. Next I made sure the motor was good by pumping gas into the carb from a gas can. A few cranks later and she started right up! 😛 The motor seems to run well, but I believ…[Read more]

LOLYou can never have too much advice. The only issue is with keeping track of it, acknowledging it was received, and letting people know that you appreciate it. If I were to use a lawnmower tank (can I buy one of these are Harbor Freight or Tractor Supply) and gas was gravity fed into the bowl, wouldn’t it overflow the bowl from the pressure o…[Read more]

Considering I am somewhat new to this, I did crank the engine before changing the oil.
I made sure that the oil was up to level though. The motor turns
freely. If I’m understanding correctly. what you are all suggesting is
that I pre-feed a length of rubber line with gasoline and then put the
other end into small gas tank? Will the vacu…[Read more] -

The line did not have any gas in it. I can definitely try that. The fuel pump was ordered and will be in tomorrow morning. 😀 If I don’t need it, I can always return it. The motor was said to be running fine 10 years ago with no smoking. I’m hoping that sitting covered all these years, it will come back to life again. I’m sure the carb i…[Read more]

On Sunday I was able to swing by the garage and tinker a little further. I took the line coming from the fuel tank and ran it into a gas can. I tilted the gas can as far as I could without spilling it and held it above the level of the pump (as I was told to do considering the pump is gravity driven). After repeated cranking, no gas ever ma…[Read more]

All of this has been extremely helpful. I probably won’t be able to tinker with it until Wednesday, but I will let you all know what I find out. 🙂

I think to bring the tank out of the equation temporarily, I will pull the bottom line coming from the tank and run it off a gas can. I would assume that if it starts and runs, at least I know it’s the tank/lines for sure. If that’s the pump, is there anything in the tank besides a strainer? Is that round metal device on top a float for the gas level?

I don’t believe that solenoid to be the culprit quite yet as, now that I’m thinking about it, fuel would have to reach that point first. Fuel is not making it there, as can be seen through the clear in-line filter. In that first picture, is the fuel pump visable? Is it in the tank?

I don’t quite understand, Al. Considering I pulled the filler hose, that is the cause of the issue? Here is a picture of a Duchess tank. Although, mine is slightly different. The fuel tank is mounted under the hood. It is secured with straps that are riveted to the floor. I believe it to be aftermarket. Is there any easy way to get it out wit…[Read more]
