Hi Kent. very interesting observation. This begs the question as to what exactly is the optimum ride height and where does one measure it to and from. In a normal bodied vehicle for example you would measure from the centre of the front spindle to the bottom edge of the fender. giving measurement X. In theory and mass production that number is…[Read more]

Hi Guys. Thanks Kent that clears that up for me. It was the bug guys that told me that it was a solenoid aaair bleed valve. Incidentally he also stated that none of our cars needed the caster shims, unless the vehicle had only been lowered in the front and in doing so change the caster angle on the front. He also added that if the car were to…[Read more]

Hi GuysI have a PICT 34 on the car with the anti run on valve fitted. I took the valve out and tried it on a battery. It will work intermittently. Doesn’t that valve merely open an airway to help shut the engine down. Im not sure how or why that would cause the excess fuel. I have a new valve on the way, the local guys were out of stock. Th…[Read more]

Hi Guys, I seem to still have the same issue after reducing the fuel pump pressure. What happens is the fuel still drops into the motor after it has been shut off. The only way to start the car is to floor the throttle/crank it for a while and it will limp to life because it has so much fuel in the cylinders. The PO told me about this before I…[Read more]

George. Mine has the stock VW tank and a whole lot of space up front. Where does your second tank sit? I think carrying a lot of gas on such an event would be a requirement just to save the time. I don’t think reliability would be to much of a problem in general but you never know. I think it would be a blast just for the hell of it. The…[Read more]

George I looked up the cannonball times, its about 28 hours at the moment. I cant imagine driving like that for so long I think a great target time for our run would be around 45 hours or so, Anything less would be a bonus. What do you think? Maybe add another 10-20 gallons of gas too! Interesting thoughts.John

Thanks Allen,Im just wondering if that number I found under the FF logo on the firewall is a part number of some kind? It is molded into the resin and seems kind of elaborate for just a part #. I mean someone built the thing you would think there was some kind of way to verify who, what or where that was. Im told SoCal, the car came to me via…[Read more]

Hi Paul Thanks for the input. I was hopefull that the guru of MG TDrs would have some answers for me. From the notes here I can tell Allen Caron was on the same quest as myself. Maybe another member will see the post and have some more clues for me to follow. Thanks again John

Hi PaulI have found a number on my car, Im not sure it relates to the body or serial number. I did some excavation under the FF logo on the firewall and found it there. It could be a body or serial number but it doesn’t seem to match the format I have read on the forum. They usually start with FMXXXXX My number is 929323/R Any clues as to what…[Read more]

Thanks George,Im on the hunt! I have the bug frame # and obviously the Engine # etc. Some manufacturers did not stamp the engines they sold new as just the engine. I wonder if that is what happened in your case? Regards John

Hi GuysI think this is going to be a case of documentation in that whatever I do I shall take notes of what parts fit what and any relevant part numbers. I would still like to find the body number, no idea where to look. John the Brit

Hi Paul I have been doing some decoding of my car and have verified that the fame is indeed a 68. The mechanics seem to all be from a 71 car, certainly the Engine and Tranny is. The front end also looks like a 71 when I compare parts fitted to the parts book. Hmmmm John the Brit

Hi AllenI know its been some time since you wrote the above article. I have a FF Migi. (how the heck can I tell) You mentioned a body numbers etc. Where do I find them , it may be a clue as to where this thing came from. The po…[Read more]
