Ringo X 2… you said it bro. My first dash was polyvarithane (spelling?) and it was showing fogged spots and scratches when I got it.So when I re-did the dash I went with a tung oil finish and have been happy. A buff with furniture polish and SHINY!

Ed, Radiators aren’t that difficult, the cores are available cut to size, solder on the cans & fittings then pressure test and then solder up all the leaks.The hard part is most of the radiators today have plastic cans. (No can solder)Carlisle??? Not that far? I’m in rainy California. I’d love to go but I cannot stay away from work that long.…[Read more]

Well I went and did it!I just ordered the MegaSquirt II computer.
I’ve been studying the tuning software and I think I’m beginning to understand it.
The “Turner Studio” software has an “auto tune” system which, once I get in the ballpark, will fine tune the car as I drive. I’ll just have to keep my laptop plugged in while using the ‘auto tune’.The…[Read more]

While at the Gillespie Air Show I saw what may be the ultimate TD Replica.
Now you might say “What makes this so special?” look again…
It looks like a ’52 MG TD. But lets see…The windshield wiper motor is missing.And the front axle is a little too far forward..Hum??Okay, it’s a real MD body. But the running gear is MG A. The motor is a Toyota…[Read more]

I hadden’t gotten that far yet. I like that idea. That takes care of that unfinished edge.

The Dutchess (still no name) has a new driveshaft.
I just realized I’m repeating myself
Delete repeats.I tested the radio today and it worked beautifully. Better than the shop radio.On Tue the 18th I fly to Jackson MS for an air show and won’t be working on the Dutchess until my return on the 26th. Fun and profit with explosives!
When I get back…[Read more]

The slip yoke bothered me too. So I took it and a picture of it installed to the builder who made the D/S for me. The slip is in about halfway and Tim says it’s okay because the Chevette rear end doesn’t move in and out.The Dutchess goes to the muffler shop at 9am tomorrow!I just finished the insulation under the bonnet;
As for the braking, that’s…[Read more]

Yep.It’s called an “Exhaust whistle”. The pressure from the exhaust manifold is used to blow it.You have a valve that is operated by a cable to the driver.When you pull the handle it makes noise.There are two kinds; first the steam whistle type that is just like you would find on a steam engine.And the second, like mine, has a small siren module…[Read more]

The tilt front end came about because I was fed up with trying to work on the engine down in the bottom of that box.So when I started the engine swap I cut the “K” section off. Once removed I realized that the whole front made a single unit.That’s when I decided to make the front end swing open as a unit.A little checking reveled that the tail…[Read more]

I didn’t like the big clunky Chevrolet column. so I fabricated a tube to hold the bearings that looked more like the MG column. This meant I had to relocate the turn signal and ignition switch.I went to Moss motors for an MG turn switch and found the price to be over $200.00 for the switch and module!!!So I went to my favorite electronic junkyard…[Read more]
