Over the years I have seen many postings from those attempting to change/modify/improve their seats. This morning I was browsing for nothing in particular for my Classic Mini and came across these which may work for…[Read more]

Agreed Kent. We don’t worry or care about the timing at idle. I time it where I run it.

If you are really concerned about the oil in your engine being gunky (if it’s not a word, it ought to be), why not plan on a quick 2 changes? Warm the engine, drain it and put in some 0-20 and let it idle and run in the driveway (no load) for a while to flush the engine. Then drain it again and put in your preferred brand.

If the hole truly is only a “tad” too big, how ’bout a big washer. Get some heavy duty aluminum flashing from Lowes, and use an inexpensive hole saw to cut a hole exactly the size of your gauge. Then using a slightly bigger (two “tads” bigger is good) hole saw, cut again to be left with a large flat washer which could be polished up (you might w…[Read more]

This morning, Jack and I had breakfast together, he in his TDr and I in my classic Mini. A fellow came into the room and asked whose TD it was. Jack acknowledged that it was his. “Is it real, or a kit?” Jack responded it’s a kit. The guy gave us an Ohhhhhhh!, in such a voice as to show a definite disappointment. Then he went on to tell u…[Read more]

John, “Why should I let these people irritate me?” – my sentiments exactly! I might just as well have played golf if I really wanted to get angry.
Strangely, I don’t get this vibe from the Air and Auto Show in Virginia Beach, Va. …and that event is hosted by a large Porsche club. I’m very interested in seeing how the Porsche club there acc…[Read more]

Kent, Great idea. I was in the process of installing hi-lift rockers a few months ago when my eyes went goofy (double vision) and I lost interest in the project. So….I just happen to have a brand new “kit”. The biggest problem that Jack has is that he is always (as in ALWAYS) working on tweaking something, or improving something, or not. …[Read more]

For those of you who may be considering attending this show, this has been the usual order of events:
We all try to arrive at the Oceanfront Inn (2901 Virginia Beach, Va. 757-422-0445) on Friday afternoon and meet for dinner at Murphy’s (within a walk).
Sat morning we usually have breakfast at the Inn’s restaurant. We generally plan our meet i…[Read more]

I’m in at the Oceanfront Inn (757-422-0445) also. Now, I’ve got to figure out whether to “wear” my MiGi or my classic Mini.

Thanks Kent. I’ve used those adapters (we used to call them Fernco’s – I think it was a brand name) many many times but didn’t think of it. Damn, – your memory is a terrible thing to lose.

One of the fitment surprises we are having is because the prior owner (used manifold) had shortened the legs where it mates up to the rubber/neoprene boots and end pieces. Unfortunately, my son in Virginia Beach, has my MIG welder. We need about 1/2″ longer on each side to be comfortable. Any ideas, short of taking to a welder??

Have fun. It may be (with a little luck) that only the throttle shaft needs replacing and the bushings are ok. That’s relatively simple and straightforward.
There are instructions for setting the float height on-line. It…[Read more]

If you are leaking fuel, it sounds more like your float is set too high or is leaking by or you have a leaking gasket. The reason I say this is because the throttle shaft and bushings are normally under vacuum and would only leak air into the manifold which would cause a lean mixture. Squirt some oil on the throttle shaft and see if it changes i…[Read more]

The reason that we had such a Rube Goldberg fix on the linkage of Jack’s Holley BugSpray was because of interference with the alternator. I had no problems at all with my “old school” generator.
