That wheel looks really right. It’s the absolute best one for a TD (next to the Bluemels Brooklands, of course).
No Air & Auto? DANG!

Ric: The important thing to know is that the Ford-based TDrs were made to use the Pinto rear end and rack & pinion setup. To that purpose, the whole car was made substantially (about three inches?) wider than a BCW body—either VW or Chevette-based. The BCW body is very close to the width of an original TD, though the wheels (in any version) sit f…[Read more]

No shame in your game, Jack. Coming along really nicely.

Hot-rodding: it’s a game of inches.
I love that you have exactly zero room to spare.
How do the exhausts fit now, btw?

Man, that’s tight.
I do like that the whole engine is behind the front axles.

edward ericson replied to the topic Is buying a car through a dealer auction still a good value? in the forum General Discussion 7 years, 6 months ago
I don’t understand what the dealer’s purpose is in this scenario. He charges $1,000 to make your bid? Why not just go to the auction and buy the car yourself?

Aluminum underpan is almost done. The driver’s footwell is removable to facilitate access to the pedal set & under the dash.

Yup: it’s all so quick and easy.
This is fun, right?
Here’s me spending 50+ hours making a pedal set. Now all I’ve got to do is cut the whole thing out and weld it back in two inches to the left.

C’mon, Roy! Bring the TD to Carlisle for one last hurrah! Put the “For Sale” sign on the front seat. Such a great example of the marque.

I second that! Take care, Bill.

Look forward to seeing you there, Al.
Shall we do some sort of TD club thing while we’re there? What’s everyone doing for Friday dinner?

I’m registered for the hotel, signed up for the Saturday dinner and the winery tour, and registered at Carlisle.
Don’t know if I’ll drive Bridget or the Spyder this year, but I’ll be there.

Spent the past several days making two six-inch long manifolds to link my fuel pumps—which don’t even work and are strictly for looks. Here’s the very long, lavishly-illustrated story of that.
Here’s what we got now:
