I just got 5 from discounttiredirect.com
165/80-15 Nankangs, I think. Something under $300 to the door. Still need to mount them. The old ones are only 6 years old and have just 20,000 or so miles on them. But it’s time.

You can thread the aluminum hose through the pipes and then through the hole in the tin. The pipes crush it a bit, but it works OK. Use the silvery stuff. I had mine on for years and it did not burn.

Me too. But I had to clear my browser’s cache to get it to work.

Looks like you’re doing what I did, Jim. You uploaded the pics and then grabbed the url from the browser window on top. That don’t work. But if you right-click the photo you’ll get a little menu which includes the url. THAT’s the one to paste into that “source” pane here.
This method is new to all of us. You timed your arrival perfectly!

I don’t know of a source for replacement body panels. Do you know the manufacturer of your replica? The parts don’t necessarily interchange between them.
The good news: it’s only fiberglass. Some cloth, resin and a squeegee, then some sandpaper, and you’ll be good as new.
Oh, and hey: Welcome to the club! TD Replicas are Unmatched fun-per-$

I love the idea of the Kimber Run but I think Oct 23 might clash with our now-annual VA Beach Fly-in. What am I bid?
As for the Gentlemen–I was thinking go and watch, not race. Looks like a scene.

I mean to do it every year the past few years and always forget. It’d be way cool to show up as a “club” in more-or-less period dress, English style.

edward ericson replied to the topic Straight six? in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 9 years, 3 months ago
There was a guy who put a Willy’s Jeep engine in a TD. Similar to a Chevy 6.
I wouldn’t do it though, unless I had the engine and trans and just HAD to do it, you know?
Clifford makes (or used to make) hop-up parts for the L6 but all those were downdraft type so they don’t solve the clearance problem. The exhaust manifold and the oil pan might…[Read more]

It is not unusual for old clutches that have sat for a long time to stick. This might take some doing. Some people have broken them free by putting the car in high gear and rocking it.
Re: The clutch adjustment: You can turn the screw at the clutch arm in the transaxle. You can unclamp and make the loop a little bigger. You can do those both. Do…[Read more]

Great job, Bill! Looks like you were carrying a lot of speed into the “oh shit” section of the course, but you just went through nice and easy. Sorry I missed it.

edward ericson replied to the topic VW year identification in the forum TD Replicas 9 years, 4 months ago
The chassis number will tell you the year of mfg. There is a lookup here.
The key years for part number issues, chassis-wise, are 1967, ’68 and ’69. 1967 and before is pretty compatible up and down the line. Those cars have linkpin front suspensions and swingarms on the rear. They are identifiable (in stock form) by the “wide-five” lug bolt…[Read more]

So here are photos of my new lift jack. I plan to make two of these, and at least one will have a sliding T bar on top with two snubbers so as to spread the load.
I’m also going to replace these RV leveler jacks with proper scissor jacks from like a couple old Toyota or Nissan pickup trucks.
But this is the basic proof of concept, which will be…[Read more]
