Hawk,
I recently visited our local Northern Tools and played with this handle
http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/produc t_6970_200330949_200330949
It was very nice and heavy. I continued to look around and I am planning on returning to get this one, it was the nicest I found. Is this what you are looking for? It’s only $8 in…[Read more] -

Greg,
Now WE have a rich source of info….you.
Since you’re in the neighborhood, maybe you can run over and give Mel’s baby a pat for him. Mel has probably got the countdown started, from the day he left Florida.
I have a Holley 2bbl and that gives me plenty of zip on the stock 1974 engine, can’t smoke the tires, but can feel the acceleration…[Read more] -

Greg,
Here is a link that Geoff had posted a while back.

I still haven’t done anything with my wiring yet, thanks for the info on that.

Mel,
I agree. That site that I had posted also mentioned an MGTE model, I think they meant MGTF. My UK book on the history of the MG states that it was never a factory option on the TD and only came back on the TF because of customer requests. There were several historical differences between that site and my MG books. I am not for sure where that…[Read more] -

Ringo, I would have to be searching a long long time to find that site with me young and good looking….I do remember being young once though.
I am trying to talk my better half into an autumn trip to Hot Springs for all the fabulous colors your trees have. If we bring the MGTD, I would rather not park it in the Arlington garage if we stay…[Read more] -

Ringo,
I remember that site is where I had done my internet research as well as a stack of MG history books I have. Very good site. Great reading. My books also stated that the wires were not a factory item for the TD line. The site that I posted might have some mis-information, sorry about that, one of those things you stumble on.

I need to make a correction in my post. I was wrong. I found a website that did state that the factory did indeed offer wire wheel options in 1952 on both the MGTD and MGTE (never heard of this one) models for a short time. Here is the site for more reading.

Mine are recessed and may be the same as Mel’s. A friend of mine has the polished stainless steel. David is right about all the rust and maintenance on many of the baskets, what a headache
. I think the TD looks good with wires even tho the original had the vented steel wheels and the wires came back with the TF. In my opinion, either way, the…[Read more]

WOW, I thought they would have hijacked a plane instead of a display car
David, is your car a CMC? -
James Cochran replied to the topic Always & Forever in the forum TD Replicas 15 years, 12 months ago
David, looks like the photo didn’t load. My car was also an airport display unit. It sat for seven years at Memphis International after a stay at the Tampa International Airport. The long time sitting didn’t do the car any good and it required a lot mechanical work.
I believe the hood was up for quite sometime on mine while in the airports b…[Read more] -

Ringo,
Thanks for the info. I do have a dozen of the Perko units in my parts bin. I am building a classic powerboat of teak and mahogany, similar to a Riva Aquariva (I am a former naval architect). The completion of the boat is two years away, so I may raid the bin again for the car. Already grabbed some mahogany for the dash and some of the…[Read more] -

Good one Paul. That’s probably the reason I could not find a clock in any of the old TD pictures or archives. Had to look at the Saloon cars to find a clock.

It’s timeless when we are behind the wheel of our TD’s.
Either that or time flies!

Ringo,
I like your map light in the center. That is a map light? Hard to tell from the angle. I need to place one on my dash, very nice.
Was there a particular paste wax you used?
I tested the machine turned metal piece, and the angle on my TD dash was not vertical enough. It reflected the sky much more than in my other car which is vertical,…[Read more]

Paul,
I am going to print one out for an 8″ wall clock in the garage. Ringo, you gave me idea about my gauges. I don’t have a volt meter either, because I could not find one with the right face. If I can find one with the right bezel, I’ll make a face for it to match. I think that is the only gauge I am missing, now to find a place on the dash. -

Thanks Larry,
This must be their website:

Glad the beauty shop had some REAL catalogs. They might have thought it was Victoria’s Secret when stocking the magazines. Although that’s not a bad catalog to browse either. -

Let me know whenever you want a custom face…..for your gauges, not on you.
I’ll whip up something. -

Paul,
I had to modify the registered logo. Both colors included here.
Paul, can you delete this post when you’re done. I tried to email, but for some reason I can’t get my email to work. ThanksJasCochran40071.6619444444 -

No problem. I realized my mistake on the first edition. The auto’s did use the Jaeger clocks; however, I can’t use the registered logo without getting in trouble somewhere. The company is still in business, watchmaking. I had modified the logo, but not enough, so I am changing it to a similar look. Technically I shouldn’t use the MG logo either,…[Read more]
