I’m passing this on to a former co-worker who was interested in a VW based MG TD replica about a year ago.

MGLondonRoadste replied to the topic removing old wax in the forum General Discussion 12 years, 4 months ago
A dish washing liquid car wash should remove the old wax. Try Dawn or something like that. Acetone is too flammable to be used safely inside a garage. Its vapors can be ignited easily from a spark or even static electricity. It is also harmful to inhale the vapors. You must have adequate ventilation.MGLondonRoadste2013-03-24 13:27:08

I can’t stop tonight, but after this one, I promise I will.Getting older is no problem. You just have to live long enough.

Congratulations on your project completion! I’m too far to pop over for the weekend, but stick your hand out the window as you fly over Arizona. I’ll wave back at you! Have a good one for me!

Happy birthday, Greg and everyone else who has a birthday coming up. I’m one of the younger ones on here, but probably not the youngest. I rolled double nickles last June, so I’ll be hitting 56 this June. I don’t think I’ll be able to retire at 62 due to the past 5 years of financial troubles, but, I’m holding out that I won’t have to work forever.

I’m glad that you made it through that storm. It sounds like relatively minor damage. I need to put up some of those garages for my two kids, if only I can get the back gate to open far enough. Then I can think about getting them insured and taking them on the road again (in good time).

Yes, it will be a lot of work already cut out for me. This agency needs a lot of help and I have experience developing programs along those lines. But the retirement formula of combined age and service of 80 means I’d be there for 25 more years. Egads! I don’t know if I can stand one job that long.

Back on topic, if you don’t have or haven’t read a copy of The Red Car, you can’t call yourself an MG T-series fan. It’s required reading. Aimed at the younger audience, it’s an easy read for anyone. Thanks for bringing up a fond memory, Allen.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. It’s now over 8 months this time, but over the past 5 years, it’s been very rocky job-wise. 2008 – laid off from a 10.5 year-long job, 2009 – worked for commissions on top of $7.25/hr, no commissions in 9 months, 2010 – short term job lasted 6 months, 2011 – job lasted 9 months before got laid off again. I hope th…[Read more]

I did read this book when I was about 12, and it sparked my love and desire for an MG TD ever since. I looked at other sports cars as I was growing up, but I knew that I didn’t have 3 months (or more) to devote trying to rebuild a real MG TD or get one running and keep it running. I put away dreams of owning a reliable and affordable c…[Read more]
