They only glared at me once. I kept trying to get a look at the back end of the cars. They were all oriented head on with no good views of the back. One had a nice luggage rack I would have really liked to see how it was constructed and attached. I’ll be back there soon, maybe call ahead and see if I can get “closer.”And I remember seeing the one…[Read more]

Any chance you still have that template and would share? As I get a bit further along in getting the car road-worthy, I’m starting to think about winter (wiring) projects.Stephen

Yes, have just been inept for 20 years. I looked in that spot time and again, but never took sandpaper to it. The paint had filled in the numbers, some sort of goey globby paint. I sanded it down a little and the numbers began to appear…114 20xxxxx August 1973.Happy to see my guessing was on the right track and not too far off. But happier to…[Read more]

DMV in Maine calls it a replica, because it was manufactured and has its own VIN number. I can send you a copy of the “general service and maintenance schedule” from mine which might help your cause. It clearly shows the manufacturer as London Motors Corporation.

Welcome from another London Roadster owner.I agree on the wipers, just go purchase a single long one and take out the rubber to replace. Unless of course, it’s not the rubber that’s the problem.P.S. is your windshield sticker still in-tact? Mine is worn away and as I was doing some work yesterday, I thought to myself, “self, you could get a new…[Read more]

First time out of the garage in about 10 years. My daughter says we should name her “Kit Cat”. Motor not yet installed, front right brake is shot, and the tires need replacing. Nice to look at in the Sunshine though. -

I’ll take them if not already spoken for. I remade my top years back but never got to doing the side curtains.

I’m attaching some marketing photos (postcards) that I have not seen elsewhere. Included is the photo of the raw steel frame, of which my Roadster does not have. Mine is definitely the VW frame. I have not seen these photos elsewhere, perhaps they are of some value.

I also have a general maintenance manual (PDF) that I cannot upload here (size…[Read more] -

Dick,Sure looks like a VW frame. The tunnel seems unmistakeable. I had some brochures that showed the custom frame and always wondered if that was pure marketing fiction. which reminds me to go through all the old paperwork. As my mother was the original owner there might be something in there to add to the London Roadster research thread….I…[Read more]

It seems like the prevailing suggestion is to get the engine in and get her on the road. Yes, Maine summers are short, but with an un-heated garage summer is when I can work out there without freezing! Regardless, to that end I think I’ll keep the immediate project list short and to the point, body on. Breaking it down into short, mid, and…[Read more]

I’ll make sure to compliment my mother on being the cool one, she’s visiting this weekend for my niece’s graduation. I’m sure she will be happy to see the new engine too.As she was the original owner, I’ve got some of the paperwork buried here somewhere. I’ll look for it and post what I have if it helps the club/community any. There wasn’t a lot,…[Read more]
