  • Ah I enjoyed that immensely! Thank you for the tip Roy!

  • I did come across one problem that is due to removing the springs as mentioned above. The passenger side tie rod sometimes rubs against the bottom of the fiberglass (where the body and fender meet) This is flanged for the bolts so it will be an easy fix.

Has anyone else come across this or is it something with the kit and/or assembly of mine?
  • Alright everyone, over this last weekend I got these flush valve stems in and had new tires put on and they work really well and look pretty good too. They are somewhat more time consuming to use as you have to put the adapter in to fill the tires, but hopefully that shouldn’t need doing too often so I don’t see that as too major of a drawback.

  • Thanks for the link Paul, those look like they will work perfectly, and although I’m not really attached to the EMPI rims I’d also rather not have to buy new ones.

I plan on getting new wheels this weekend as well so I’ll just have the tire shop install the new valves and I’ll let you know how they work.
Also thinking about writing up a post about…

  • I also contacted the seller requesting only partial order. Possibly if several ask he may be more willing, as I doubt anyone of us will use all of those parts. Hoping for the best as I’m in need of some new chrome and interior pieces.

  • Thanks all for the input! I’ll have to do some research on the caster shims and figure out if I want to try them.

I’ll have to check on tire pressure as one of my tires is always losing air. As far as the suspension and angle I have not done anything from where the stock height is. So the front may be a little higher due to no spare tire and…

  • Well sometime on the way home from work last week the odometer stopped working again and I have been putting off taking it apart again. (Drat! I was looking forward to getting an accurate reading of my mileage and what kind of gas mileage I get!) This time I will take a few pictures of what the inside looks like and how it looks with the nice…[Read more]

  • I feel bad saying this, but over here in Cali I had to put the top BACK on for a little rain after some sunny 70 degree weather. Hope this crazy winter clears up soon for all you stuck in the snow still!

  • Ok, I didn’t have to get under the gas tank. Luckily all I had to mess with was the housing for the column (the part that the turn lever screws onto) and it’s only attached under the dash on mine.

Although I do plan on raising my steering wheel some so I can see the gauges better so I will keep that in mind.
    Thanks for the input guys!!
    Now to make…

  • I’ve been browsing TheSamba this morning and it looks like I need to loosen and move the steering column housing down. I will let you know how that goes. It looks like I just need to loosen the bracket that holds it to the dash and push it down.

  • Ok, although to specify it’s not the arm that is rubbing its the part that is actually on the steering column. It is like THIS one. My dad put a washer on it while I was gone the other day so we will see how it goes. If it keeps occurring I may check out the steering box and see if something is loose.

Although those ideas are good since my lever is…

  • I originally tried to purchase the one in sacramento (although it was listed in a different city) and he wasn’t very interested in meeting up and I am a bit suspicious it’s a scam.

That lug nut is interesting! Not necessarily bad just a bit odd 😉

Hmmm, Interesting that when I got the clutch kit it came with the gland nut bearing. I assumed it would be replaceable since they included the needle bearing but not the gland nut.

Alright we’re back up and driving! Apparently the gland nut broke! Which is pretty crazy seeing as how it is enormous…

  • Paul, I get the error when posting a reply also, but it still goes through.

Well I got the engine in sometime last week, after a few hours of frustration trying to get it to sit right, then discovering I need a 71 clutch not a 70 clutch… Whoops! Drove it out to the college for a few days for my welding classes and on the way home friday clunk clunk clunk…. Was gone for the weekend bird hunting so today I got it back…[Read more]

Awe no pictures for me! Glad to hear you’re making progress!

By “nose” are you meaning the two sides of the hood, that have the louvres in them? If so I may or may not need them depending on how bad mine are when I finally get into re-doing the front end.
Or if you are talking about the front piece that goes under the grille shell then I might…
