The car looks great Ed! You know I really like the combination of wheels (wide in the rear). You did a fine job. Can Dale and I come see it in person?

Hey Mark, In regards to your tire pressure. Its all about weight, and tire size. With the added weight of the V8, automatic transmission, and I’m guessing 16580R/15 tires. Up front about 32 to 35psi, and maybe 30 to 32 psi in the rear. If the tires are wearing excessive in the middle of the tread, you will want to lower the pressure, only about…[Read more]

Marco, I have had good luck with an air powered 3″ cut off tool. be careful, it cuts really fast, but very clean. wear eye protection and a dust mast (if you can find one). with a steady hand it cuts fairly straight, but again very fast. A 90degree die grinder with a 2″ disk works well to profect your work, but hand sanding with a block is much…[Read more]

R.Putnam replied to the topic Considering new radiator for heat issues in the forum Chevy/Ford Kits 4 years, 8 months ago
So, lets not forget there are other systems that will affect operating temperatures. Timing, as the distributor vacuum and mechanical advance, and air fuel ratio, if it’s lean, and exhaust restrictions. Anyway the radiator is great. An oil cooler will also help. The guys in the club always have good advice. Good luck.

We have a FiberFab, new drum brake system, with drop spindles. No pea gravel or concrete, just plenty of tools and supplies for longer trips. I’m with Ed, it’s all about good fresh tires, what a better ride and braking with quality tires. We keep our rear drum brakes adjusted up (with vw rear engine) and no braking issues. The oem design brakes…[Read more]

Really looking good Bill! Dale has talked me into driving my car to Carlisle. So my winter project was a new set of tires. We are really looking forward to the trip, and hoping for dry weather.

In response to ochwatt request trying to locate a good cover for his MP Lafer. I’m using a cover from Moss Motors, that was made for an original TD. It is a fine cover that fits great, and is on their web site. Worth trying.

I’m with you Bill, I managed to get a title in Virginia. With the VW chassis, it was easily registered as a 1967 Type 1. I would not give up either, push on.
