    UPDATE;

I spent some time going through every wire to make sure everything was
properly connected and there were no improper grounds.  I
reconnected/confirmed all the wires were laid out per the wiring diagram
for my kit car version. And then I verified the wiring was correct by
hooking up my battery charger to each item and turned it on;…[Read more]

1old buzz, according to everything I’ve read the amp meter is not grounded.  Plus I double checked this morning and I have everything wired just like the wiring diagram from this website.  It seems odd to me too but I followed the directions…my wife would be proud.  I still think I may have mis-read something so I’m still checking.Roy, Thanks fo…[Read more]

  • Bill, thanks for doing the research.  Much appreciated.  Nice to know there’s an actual part number for future reference.

  • Yes, it is a set screw

  • Bill,

Here is a picture of what I have.  I think I may have found one online
but the photos are not very clear and I can’t tell for sure so if you
can provide a part number that’d be awesome!

  • Wiring Update. After input from my TD Forum family I went back to my wiring efforts and threw out 2 assumptions1. Things were wired correctly when I got the car2. I knew what the heck I was doing. Then I called up the wiring diagram for my car from the online manual (again) and decided IT was correct and moved forward blindly following its layout…[Read more]

  • More helpful information.Roy, if I had the time I would take you up on your offer. I guess I’ll just have to print a big copy of the wiring diagram, post it on the wall, and work my way through the mess one wire at a time.Crap.  Scooz my french

  • Guys, thanks for your help.Paul, I’ve been using the download diagram since I started.  The problem I have is that the wire color and size is not consistent with the diagram.  So if a wire (or wires) “disappears” through the body I am having trouble finding it again where it pops back up.  And, as I said, the color and size code are basically me…[Read more]

  • As I mentioned before, following a successful engine build, it’s on to
the wiring.  I pulled down the wiring diagram from this website and it
is helpful but I’m having some challenges because none of the colors
match and not all of the wire sizes are consistent.  But I’m slowly
    working my way through it.

I believe I have the engine compartment m…[Read more]

George, thanks for the lead….bought it.  It’s almost like the one that came with the car so it’ll be an easy quick hook up.  I’m not sure if I’ll use it long term but for $36 it keeps the wiring project going.Onward!

  • Again, thanks for the input.  VERY HELPFUL.I already have a new blade fuse block.  I just couldn’t see myself rebuilding and replacing almost everything else and leaving the old glass fuses.  Besides, I’ll need the extra slots when I install the A/C (it’s on the “Santa Please” list)I will definitely make sure I have an anchored ground.  From you…[Read more]

  • Roy,Thanks for the heads up on the ground.  I’ll double check those with a wire brush in hand.Allen,That was my plan so thanks for the confirmation.  You wouldn’t believe how many splices I’ve already found.  One tail light had 4 different color of wires from the harness to one light.  All that will get cleaned up and full runs will be rep…[Read more]

  • Ed,VERY NICE back yard.  I can see how that would distract you from any other hobby.  I appreciate your input.   I plan on replacing the fuse block so we can start anew but, as you said, if it ain’t broke (and I can prove it) there’s no sense in messing with it.I’ll see what others have to say but I think this is my plan.

  • After dealing with a bent flex plate that wouldn’t let the fly wheel move, rebuilding the leaky carburetor, finding out the new distributor was bad, and hooking up the starter wrong (duh)…..I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED!!!!And man does it sound sweet and smooth.  I used the sport exhaust that came with the car and it sounds really nice.I did not…[Read more]
