  • Hey guys, where did you find the information on this dinner?  I haven’t seen any schedule of events from the web page.  Am I blind?

This is what was holding mine in place.  My guess is you have to pull the upholstery.  But mine is a 30+ year old Duchess

Ditto what Allen said.  Had the same thing happen back when I owned my 69 Camaro.  Carb float got saturated and it acted like a bad fuel pump.ended up replacing the carb float and all was well.

  • Thanks for the info guys.  I’ve been trying to decide how I’m getting there and what my time frame is but I think I’ve got it figured out.Allen, I’m likely leaving the morning of Thursday, 5/17 and running up the center of Florida to pick up 95.  From there I’ll pick up to 26 outside Charleston.  Then I’ll grab 77 at Columbia to 81 in Virginia th…[Read more]

  • Well the car won’t be ready but I decided I’m going anyway.  I need a long break and a road trip to this show will be just the ticket.I know I’m a late comer but I had a glimmer of hope that my ride would be ready by then so I was holding out to see if I could drive her up.  No such luck.I’ll likely arrive sometime on Friday and would like to p…[Read more]

The body will be dark cherry red and the fenders will be black.  The interior will be tan, or camel those high brow folks.

Bill,We’re using a marine grade resin with short strand fiberglass.  Can’t recall the brand but the key is short strand fiber. So far it looks like it primes and paints ok but we’re still watching it since we’ve only done spot tests.

  • Rick replied to the topic Running Progress Report in the forum My Project 13 years ago

With the body in place my son is touching up the fiberglass in
preparation for the first coat of primer.  He’s doing a great job and
showing me a few tricks along the way.

There are a few spider web cracks but for the most part it’s just
plugging chips and nicks.  There are a few places where the fiberglass
is rippling and he’s filling those in a…[Read more]

  • Nice work!!I painted my headlight domes with Rustoleum and they came out great but not sure how long they will last.  I’m going to spay the body with epoxy because my son has access to a spray booth.  If that wasn’t the case I was going to roll it on and work it til it shined.  So it’s cool to see someone take that approach.Keep up the good wo…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the great info and pics.  Sorry for the slow response but I got distracted by my wiring research and forgot to come back to this string.VERY HELPFUL!!!

  • Rick replied to the topic Wiring in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago

Paul, you have a real knack for searches.  I was on JEGs several times and couldn’t find the complete list of wiring.  You hit the jackpot!Thank you!

  • Rick replied to the topic Wiring in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago

Thanks Bill but I really don’t have the money for a prebuilt harness.  That’s why I’m looking for spools of wire.

  • Cool options Ray10 but I like my steering wheel (however those are pretty tempting).  I’m thinking my steering column may need to be shortened.  I’ll just have to wait and see once I get the seats in.

THE BODY IS ON!!!It doesn’t look like much but it represents a heck of lot of work and experience.I am still waiting on my engine rebuild kit so I decided to run my checklist for putting the body back on the chassis.  Turns out I had almost everything done.  So I took care of the outstanding items,  called my boys over, and voila!  The crowing mom…[Read more]

Frankie,Thanks for the quick reply and thank immensely for what you do to support this site.  The information I have gotten from historical posts, forum chats, and photographs has been invaluable in my rebuild.I personally think the additional cost for the full licensed version is worth it (and voted accordingly). Is this a one time cost or annual fee?

  • Agree…like the new format but can we bring back “Active topics”?

    Thanks for all the work
  • Rick replied to the topic Repainting in the forum General Discussion 13 years, 1 month ago

Ok.   I feel pretty red faced on this one.

I went back and followed my own steps for prep and paint (as pointed out by several in this thread).

I sanded, washed, wiped down with mineral spirits, ran a tack clothe, then primed.  Worked perfect!

I guess I got a little excited about finally working on the body.
