2x on battery tender if it is possible.
If not, maybe take the battery home w/ you and trickle-charge it there.I’ve had good luck with Stabil in a near-full tank over the winter.Never jacked the car for the winter. I would push it back and forth a foot or so once or twice in the off season. In my case this has happened naturally as I needed to get… -

Just re-reading your above post on the existing springs. Holy crap your car weighs 1300 lbs?
That is nuts.Mine’s got to be over 1600, probably over 1700. Bill’s is over 2000 without the roll cage..How do you weigh 700 pounds less than Bill? All that said: how could the stock Chevette springs be “too soft” if the Chevette, also, weighs 700 lbs m… -

You have the right idea in terms of grinding out the cracks to fix them. You’ll want to lay up some new glass behind the repair as well.
I’ve never heard of anyone getting a spot gelcoat color match. You might be way ahead of everyone here if you know someone who could get that done. I’d probably pay the $60 for it.What we do after fixing stress… -

1. Disconnect the battery? A good idea. 2. Fuel preservative? I highly recommend draining the tank and use that gas in your car. Then run the TDr until it stops, insuring that there is no more gas in the carburetor or the lines. 3. Jack up off tires? Can’t hurt. Especially if you have bias ply tires. Bearings are of no concern.4.…[Read more]

And if all those options don’t work, you can always go to coil-overs and pick your spring rate.

John, I was thinking you had a running, working suspension with those existing springs, hence: use ’em in the new setup. I guess that’s not going to work?
Really fascinated to see this go together. I’ve admired your work.OK, thread drift over, back on the subject: have you posted this part on the Chevette forum? Could find some interest… -

Add another channel and you could put up bookshelves, Paul.

Buy shorter springs with a lower spring rate.. Cutting one coil off the stock springs raises the spring rate apx. 10%. Cut two and you make it even worse.

Glue your mounting base to the hood underside, then fiberglass it in. No visible screws.

Dana, regarding “running terrible”, did it run terrible before or after you adjusted the valves?
If it ran terrible after the plug change, my guess would be that you swapped a couple ignition wires.

That Alpha rear will absolutely keep the gearheads guessing down at the drive-in. People look under Bridget all the time & can’t figure her out. With your setup their heads will explode.edsnova2015-09-29 20:45:54

Dana, Is it possible that your brake pedal is not returning to full “up”. If it is not, then you will not get a good bleed because the master cylinder is shutting off the brake fluid from the reservoir to the master cylinder. If the brake pedal is returning as it should, you should be able to open the bleed valve on any of your wheel cy…[Read more]

Just retread your post…you did bleed the master before you installed it?

billnparts replied to the topic TD Muffler in the forum VW Based Kits 10 years, 6 months ago
How about trying the reverse bleeder, pushing the fluid from the wheels to the master cylinder.http://www.bavauto.com/fland.asp?part=2104-B&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cse&utm_term=2104-B&gclid=CNvUvYuoncgCFdcUHwodJ0sMMgWorth considering?OrOpen the bleeder, walk away and have a beer and wait til it drips.

An unusual selection, but if it’s available, what the hell. Looks like it’ll go in without too much of a fight. Will you still be able to run the same wheels?Good luck
